The beauty of the lake is delightful and you can sit on benches or in the cafe and watch the world go by or feed the ducks. You can hire boats or take a boat trip, hire bikes or just use your feet and go for walks in any direction. There is parking, restrooms and a lovely cafe, there are... More

Hired an electric boat for 2 hours and did the length and back of Coniston water, as the lake is so big it didn't matter that there were loads of people there's enough space for everybody. If your idea of heaven is being on the water enjoying the peace and quiet and tranquillity that that brings then I thoroughly recommend... More

Took a boat trip though the weather was not great , it was still stunning . Points along the trip that you can stop off and have a break. Well worth doing .

We parked up free-of-charge in a car park going into Grizedale forest and enjoyed the afternoon lying on a picnic rug on the fine shale around the edge of the lake, shrouded from the hot sun by over-hanging trees. Pure tranquility listening to the water lapping against the stones, watching small boats sail by.

I like Coniston. We got parked for free on a verge near the pathway walk to the lake. It was busy but not heaving like Windermere and loads of picnic tables. Lake shore was practically empty. We had a '99' and wandered back to the car via the shopping 'centre' - go and get some Coniston Fudge. You won't regret... More

Gorgeous countryside with fabulous views on a sunny day. Steamer ride across the lake is fun with the house to visit on the other side. Coniston village is pretty and compact. The butchers sausages come highly recommended!

For the best spots take the little back road down the side of the waters. Once in Coniston take the B5285, then take the next turning on your right for Lowick bridge. follow this road along its very narrow but there are plenty of parking spaces for the Iconic jetty photo follow the road for about 2.4 miles , your... We rented both a boat and electric bikes from the boating centre at the lake. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, and couldn't have been more helpful. The bike paths around the lake are stunning, and the electric bikes meant we could cover a lot more of the scenery than would normally be possible. The lake is beautiful (as are all... More

Its a very nice and serene lake, not at all commercialized, ideal for families with children, couples, dogs. Its very peaceful there, the lake has few rocks/boulders. A great picnic spot. you would just want to lie down and breathe into the nature around you. On the Left side from the parking till you meet the dead end, there is... More
