Ok but on a dry day maybe.

We happened to go on the wettest day ever. So it made for a cold wet start. The train was late leaving. Then the carriage we sat in was waiting to be dressed for a booking so we... read more

My third visit to this railway was the diesel gala in early August 2015. The line has come on leaps and bounds since its extension to Eridge and has a nice branch line feel about it. There was a good selection of locomotives and some imaginary paring up of traction. Indeed as the Gala reached closure the number of loco's... More

An incredibly friendly little railway offering a wide variety of activities to suit both railway enthusiasts and the general public at large. Their summer diesel gala in particular was fantastic!

I have been to many heritage railway s mainly in the Midlands and the North of England as well as East Anglia. My experience of my first visit to Spa Valley for the diesel gala obviously compares these other railways. First the good;- Excellent website that tells you all you need to know Great and committed volunteers Refreshments and beer... More

The Spa Valley Railway is an absolute treat. Running from Kent into Sussex you will see some fantastic countryside (unlike some other preservation railways where you are mostly in culverts or behind trees you get beautiful views of scenery you don't expect). The railway operates alternating steam and heritage diesel traction, the carriages are beautifully presented, the stations a delight... More

We visited this lovely stream railway as an early Fathers Day treat. My daughter booked it as a surprise for her dad and I was lucky to go along as well. The three course lunch consisted of chicken skewers with sweet chilli dip and a nice fresh crusty roll. The roast lamb to follow was delicious with fresh vegetables and... More

My husband booked the buffet carriage for his 40th birthday and organised a very tasty curry buffet from the Raj Pavilon. We made two round trips through the beautiful Kent countryside which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the curry, washed down with excellent local beer (Harveys) and cider (Charringtons). The way the carriage was set out was ideal... More

I had a Spa rail ride recently with friends and a 5 year old. It brought back memories of my childhood - we went 'up' the line pulled by a diesel engine and then watched our train coupled up to a cute little steam engine. We stopped on the way back at High Rocks which has a glorious pub and... More

My girlfriend and I recently attended a private party on the Buffet Carriage, Kate. The train has been beautifully restored and the interior was very comfortable. The leisurely journey to Eridge took us through very pleasant countryside at a pace which allowed us to socialise and take in the views whilst enjoying a few refreshments. Overall we had a fantastic... More

We happened to go on the wettest day ever. So it made for a cold wet start. The train was late leaving. Then the carriage we sat in was waiting to be dressed for a booking so we had to move. It may have been a good idea to close that carriage to start with. The views were lovely and... More

You need the whole day really to make the most of the all day rover ticket. Try as we did the different carriages, and spend some time at the three stations. Groombridge is the best kept station, it's very well maintained and the small refreshment kiosk is very good value and clean, the staff on bank holiday Monday were very... More
