About time something to imrove this area.

Although I have nothing against idea of 'the Great Wall' I really dislike the fact that there is nothing better in this once busy area of the town. I realise that as an ailing... read more

So many talented people and so much varied art on display. You do not need to travel to London or any of the other cities in the United Kingdom, come to Ramsgate outdoor art exhibition and be astounded at the amount of art on display. You will not be disappointed.

Although I have nothing against idea of 'the Great Wall' I really dislike the fact that there is nothing better in this once busy area of the town. I realise that as an ailing resort something like this is better than a desolate waste ground, but 30 years after I left the area only now is something finally beginning to... More

Well, had to look at the web for the history of the abandoned development. Having said its a load of pillars behind, the wall does a good job of hiding it. Many of the murals on the wall remind me of friends!

Joke - an attempt to hide the building project that has stalled for 10 years - from what we can gather, it's some dodgy property deal 2004/5 and has only got concrete pillars to show for it. Stretch of land could be really useful for the town commercial side with tourists... but its Thanet.... Besides, what is art and what... More

If you follow this wall from the amazing historical lift to the historic railway caves at the other end you will notice a few pieces of art by local community members and residence. One lady noticed me admiring a piece and said 'what do you think?' I turned to see she was having a nice cup of tea at the... More

Ramsgate is full of failed attempts to fix failed regeneration projects, both pubic and private. Instead of a wall this should be a huge mirror to reflect back Ramsgate's greatest asset....the beach and the sea.

What is the Great Wall of Ramsgate? Is it bidding for comparison with the one in China or is it more akin to the green line in Cyprus, the Berlin Wall or Belfast's 'Peace Walls'? That is to ask whether it a piece of community art or simply a fig leaf for the property speculators making millions from the luxury... More

Don't dismiss this. I was told the pictures will be back. I hope this is true because it was a wonderful display by local talent. I saw the pictures last year and they are really worth waiting for.
