Ensure that you have your working shoes on. Ideal for old and young a like and very user friendly with buggies and wheelchairs. Very well presented and layed out with plenty of seating areas for a sit down, plus pinic areas and places to eat or just have a coffee. For the admission price, you can return as many times... More

Really enjoyed this trip, didn't feel like a zoo more like a country park with animals. Different in that it focuses on rare and endangered animals. Very pleasurable to walk round.

Visited with our adult kids plus grandkids in July. We hadn't been since our own were very young. Overall impressions were very positive. The whole place is neat, well maintained and designed with some thought. Trees have been retained where possible and there are attractive green areas, ideal for picnics. The enclosures are generally of a high standard. I have... More

It's a zoo with all the negative elements of bored big cats & primates in cages but does try to be better in terms of enrichment, visitor friendliness, photo opportunities. Wasn't always easy to tell which cages were empty & the map wasn't always up to date and I didn't see any elephants at all. But the gorillas are a... More

Loved Howletts fantastic place. Very spacious although we did visit out of school holidays. Talks were really interesting by the staff and they really knew their animals. The walking through the Lemur enclosure was amazing especially with a 2mth old baby lemur to be seen. Staff were friendly, environment was clean and tidy and the animals had spacious enclosures were... More

As a birthday present for my niece she became a "junior ranger for the day" a fantastic experience led by the kindest and most knowledgeable guide ever! He really made the day into something special and treated the small group of children really well, asking and answering lots of questions, he had the patience of a saint! On this particular... More

We had bought our yearly ticket back in March and have now visited three times. Our little one is now 19 months and it has been nice to see his reactions to the animals each time. We can walk round with the buggy in about 2.5 hours so you don't have to be there all day, it's worth it if... More

After a gap of nearly 10 years we have just revisited Howletts and remembered what a special place it is. In fact it appears to have improved with age – everywhere is beautifully kept and maintained. Most important of all, the animals still appeared to be extremely well cared for and content. The large numbers of gorillas and elephants were... More

Had a great time at Howletts this past weekend. From the bus stop we got off at, it was a 15min walk along a road with no footpath... maybe there was a bus that went nearer but we weren't informed of it. The Gorilla talk was very good and seeing them feed too. There was a good selection of animals... More
