Great films

I go here to see films that'll never get shown at Canterbury's main cinema, a horrible Odeon. For example, Pride and Spirit of '45; classic lefty / student fare.

Conveniently Situated on the university campus, out of town, this Cinema is happy to include films that the big name cinemas would often shun. A printed independent review of each film is available FOC before each performance starts which can give helpful additional insight to a complex plot line. Seats are comfortable, and well tiered, meaning usually your view is... More

Stopped off for breakfast, good food in a good atmosphere Had to wait for a little while but they were very busy and it was well worth it.

The Gulbenkian is great, and has a range of interesting non-mainstream events. Finding it is thte challenge... If you have a degree in orienteering, or are a student of the university, you'll be fine. Otherwise you'll find that the road signs run out a mile or so before you get there, & the Gulbenkian is squirelled away on the university... More

Does a nice selection of snacks and drinks, perfect for between lectures and the cafe layout makes it great for meeting friends. Service is sometimes a bit slow and the price is definitely not suitable for a student budget but nice every once in a while

I come here on a regular basis with my partner to watch films after they have been released. As we are both students we purchased Gulb cards and get an added discount on top of student prices. Great if you dont want to pay alot to see a film at The Odeon, although some of the food can be overpriced... More

Rather expensive but at least we can see films which might not make it to the local Odeon; however the recent opening of a Curzon cinema in the old drill Hall may change that.

We went for the festival, while it was small, it was a lovely place, safe, kid friendly. The cafe is lovely and reasonably priced.

The great thing about Gulbenkian is that they don't show a film for a month or more; if a film is quite popular or mainstream they will show it for 4 days, otherwise it will be a one show. Luckily (maybe because it is a university cinema) they choose enough art-house films; in that sense it seems like a real... More

Great independant cinema with films which are different. Seating is very comfortable and all reservable. There is also a great cafe.
