The great thing about Gulbenkian is that they don't show a film for a month or more; if a film is quite popular or mainstream they will show it for 4 days, otherwise it will be a one show. Luckily (maybe because it is a university cinema) they choose enough art-house films; in that sense it seems like a real... More

Great independant cinema with films which are different. Seating is very comfortable and all reservable. There is also a great cafe.

I've been a regular visitor to the Gulbenkian Cinema in the 14 years that I've lived in Canterbury. Great venue for catching less mainstream films, as well as repeats of blockbusters etc... Tickets reasonably priced and even have Kent ice-cream stand - highly recommended. Having moved away from Canterbury the Gulbenkian is definitely irreplaceable!

If the film you want to see at the Odeon isn't on or you missed it check out the Gulbenkian by the uni and it might be on in there. They show lots of different films, some independent and big box office hits and new releases. Go check it out...don't forget the popcorn or drink

European films find a way into UK through art venues where culture and art match well. No matter how much the Gulbenkian tries it will never reach that label. It is not artistic at all. it is pretentious in its selection, seating, service and atmosphere. The foyer is like a bad novel written by an illiterate group who thinks are... More

A great place to watch your favourite movie. The seats are comfortable and there is plenty of legroom. Outside the bar/eating area is as welcoming as a new building can be and the price of drinks is reasonable.

A relaxing way to watch a film. Seating is very comfortable would recommend. Also you can have a drink in the bar beforehand.

We often go to the Gulbenkian with its wide choice of good films, especially now that they screen live opera and National Theatre productions. The Gulbclub membership cuts £2 off the price and on-line booking is an advantage. Eating at the restaurant, not brilliant but OK. Plenty of parking just across the road if the Gulbenkian parking is full.

We frequent this hidden gem as the tickets are cheaper than the bigger cinemas (especially for students) and the quality of projection is just as good. The one issue we have is that the leg room is not as generous and this could be a problem for those with knee problems - unless you get an aisle seat. Outside in... More
