Great for riverside walk.

Great to break away from crowds by walking through the gardens alongside the river side. Some moving war memorials.

It was so wonderful to walk along through the gardens, along the river. The flower beds were just amazing, full of beautiful red tulips. And it was great to see the medicine garden, created by local school children, funded by The National Lottery.

My wife and I went to Canterbury for a few days and originally went through Westgate Gardens as a shortcut between our hotel and St Peters Street but we quickly came to appreciate the Gardens for their own sake. On a beautiful spring afternoon, the combination of gorgeously colourful flower beds, a lazy stream, some very old trees, and a... More

Lovely stroll along the river in pretty setting. Although there were some very dodgy looking people by the war memorial drinking beer.

A very place of peace and quiet within a busy city centre. Gardens are very well presented alongside the stream running through the city centre on which you can take a boat ride in a peaceful setting

To tell the truth I come here all the time - just wanted to pipe up and let everyone know how nice it is!! Always seems to catch the sun, at all times of year - especially nice in the evenings. I love it!

Westgate gardens is a lovely place in Canterbury, and rather peaceful in comparison to its location to the high street on its door step. Worth a visit in Spring/Summer when the flowers are in bloom. Be aware there are tourists around as other places in Canterbury.

This is a beautiful set of gardens. In the summer, with blue skies and a picnic, it's great, sitting by the river to read a book. On the other hand, see if you can play idiot bingo: - Long-haired guitar players who think strumming tunelessly on an instrument makes them attractive to women. - Selfish moron playing their music out... The perfect place to relax away from the hub bub of the city centre which is just a stone's throw away. The gardens look beautiful in the Spring with the river Stour flowing through. Take a picnic and chill.

Well tended gardens beside the river. Nice and peaceful only a few minutes away from the busy town centre.
