a lovely way to spend the afternoon

the walk along the river is lined with flowers and plenty of places for a picnic. a punt or boat tour down the river is fun to watch and to take.

When you've had your fill of history in Canterbury, Westgate Gardens offer a delightful place to walk in fine weather with plenty of seats if you need a rest. The gardens are right beside the River Stour. In summer the flowers add plenty of colour, and there are some beautiful trees too, notably the Oriental plane tree with its huge... More

It's a beautiful garden in Canterbury! It's a place to relax, because it's quiet and beauty, you can read a book. When I was there, in April, the flowers have left the place even more beautiful. You can take a river boat around the garden, it's a lovely tour! I will return one day.

Nice for a stroll by the river, can be busy in the summer. Recently renovated, there are also boat trips.

We so enjoyed these beautifully kept gardens running right along by the river and recommend them for relaxation after a long mornng's sight-seeing. A perfect spot to eat a packed lunch. We especially valued the two memorial gardens dedicated to those who fought in the WW2 Italian and Burma campaigns - very interesting information was given in each about the... More

The flowers are beautiful! The river running through looks amazing in the sun. Though, it upset some people when they changed the gardens. I have to say that the benches are very peaceful to sit on.

These are found at the bottom of Canterbury high street on the left, they follow the river away from the town until you get to a brilliant kids play area. They are well maintained and the area is nice to go and sit in the shade or just to relax.

We walked daily through this garden on the way to our accommodation from the car park - beautiful during the day very refreshing for a city centre - not sure at night if alone. Better lighting needed. We enjoyed watching the ducks making a next.

All the six years I never got tired of these gardens. Beautifully kept, great selection of flowers. My husband took me there for a picnic when we first met. We sat by the river with champagne, cheese and freshly baked bread and had such a lovely time. There are always swans and ducks in the river. Incredibly beautiful, calm &... More
