Great for walks, strolls, or simply to sit and relax just outside the city gate. The gardens are always busy so people watching is an easy pastime. Used by many groups combines nature, relaxation and the opportunity to explore the river and local meadows.

We drove to Canterbury the day after our wedding and walked out from our hotel still dazed and confused (and happy, naturally). We came across the park purely by chance and it was just what we needed. They're really well maintained and there are so many sweet fragrances drifting across from the various herbs planted about the place. As an... More

Wow, what a lovely place. Beautiful walk along the river, paddle your feet if you like, watch the punted boats go past and fantastic free playground for the kids at the end

Everybody loves Canterbury. Not everyone spots this little gem though. Keep going through the centre of town towards the West Gate and you will find this lovely park on your left. Then you can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the banks of the super river whilst gentle punts roll up and down. The gardens are splendid with great displays of... More

Lots of people in the late Spring. Gardens are very pretty along the river. Nice little sanctuary close to but far enough away from the tourist area.

... a lot of flowersand trees between the old town wall and a small river. The Westgate Gardens offers a lot of peaceful places to sit down and relax.

Had a great stroll along the canal through the gardens. There were ducks and other birds all over which added to the beauty.

Centrally located, very well kept up and offering enough benches for sitting and open space for games or picnic.

The ideal place for a relaxing break during a hard day doing 'touristy things' or shopping. Plan ahead and it is the perfect setting for a picnic. Over the years I have taken the opportunity of a stroll along the river numerous times.

Come and stroll through this lovely garden by the river, you can stroll for miles...take a punt ride, enjoy the kiddies playground, have a cuppa tea or snack, toilets and baby change....Or just sit a while and take in the historic views around you...
