We have visited the Westgate Gardens a few times. This year we were surprised to see that the raised lawn and the lovely old rose garden at the back of the Tower House has been concreted over and surrounded by railings. It used to provide a perfect setting for the historic building, in the heart of the park and near... More

This is a lovely place to while a way an hour or two, away from the bustle of the high street. They are also part of the River Walk so for those that prefer a more active "rest" then I can recommend it. Plenty of Restaurants and Pubs nearby if you prefer that to a picnic lunch.

Well timed trip in spring. Absolutely gorgeous, came back twice and just soaked it in. Beautiful flowers, trees, landscaping and river. Must see in Canterbury.

Great to break away from crowds by walking through the gardens alongside the river side. Some moving war memorials.

It was so wonderful to walk along through the gardens, along the river. The flower beds were just amazing, full of beautiful red tulips. And it was great to see the medicine garden, created by local school children, funded by The National Lottery.
