Lovely walks along the castle wall, there is also a little café, a band stand and ideal place to go for a walk with the children. Plenty of benches to rest weary legs and a large grass area to picnic on.

Dane John gardens are within the old city wall. It's quite a busy garden and frequented by students but still quite a nice place to have a sit down. It's a very good venue for the Canterbury food festival in October and certainly worth a visit.

A nice place to relax maybe while waiting for a bus as I did. There's also an overview of Canterbury with great views.

My main visit to this side of Canterbury is for the yearly foods and drinks festival in late Autumn, which I would HIGHLY recommend for tasters and a great musical weekend. Even non-festival time this is a lovely walk just inside of the Canterbury Walls, with plenty of places to sit and rest; watching the world go by. Well kept... More

Beautiful gardens, bandstand, kiosk and Dane John Mound to climb. Good view from the top with Canterbury Cathedral clearly in the distance.

Nice area only a short distance from the town centre. Great place to sit down and have a picnic or relax. It's a short distance from the town centre, in fact it's across the road from the main Bus Station within the Canterbury City Walls and across the bridge from Canterbury East Station.

Numerous events are held there including light up the City on the 25th October in aid of the local Pilgrims Hospice and food events nearer Xmas. Be warned it can be frequented by drunks and druggies so avoid at night and go in company.

Oasis of calm yet in the heart of the city. Interesting historical titbits on signs. Surrounded by interesting buildings and quirky bridges.

This is a very nice stretch of parkland adjacent to a section of the 1950s-rebuilt city walls, with a memorial, fountain, bandstand, flower beds, and the mound. It's also right next to the bus station. It's a shame it sometimes is home to crowds of rowdy students.
