Wouldn't really advise hanging around here. It's the kind of place school kids go to when they're too young for pubs so get tanked up on white lightening. Many like to smoke their little joints here away from prying eyes and their mummies and daddies eyes too! although it's over the road from canterbury police hq, there is always a... More

Dane John's Gardens are a nice urban park, with asphalted paths, a fountain and some formal flowerbeds, near the city centre, sheltered by the city walls. There is a childrens play area, which includes a slide and a wooden walled mini maze

Honestly?! It's a little hill with a memorial on top, in the surrounding park is a water fountain and another memorial. I was there in December 2014. Bloody cold and it was just ok. if I'll go there in the summer and I will enjoy it a lot more I'll change this review. But for now Average 3*

It's not a big place. There are some lovely period houses skirting the edge of the gardens. A small fountain. A small maze/fort area for children. There is a cafe that sells ice cream etc. It's the type of place where you can grab a sandwich and sit on the grass in the summer.

The Roman wall has been reconstructed, but the mound is an original built by the Romans and you can climb to the top of it for nice views of Canterbury Cathedral.

The little wooden shed has been transformed into a wonderful kitchen and with so many options of drinks and snacks it makes the Gardens so much more appealing. I was so pleased on 1st October to be sat with my Hot Chocolate basking in the sunshine at the pic-nic tables, little squirrels running around gathering nuts for the winter. A... More

Dane John Gardens is just a 10 minute walk from Canterbury Cathedral, through the central part of the old town. It's a long, rather narrow park, but full of small gardens, benches, etc. The day we visited there was a food festival and fun fair, so it was not quiet. But, it was fun and I could imagine sitting here... More

Well, it's a park. And a nice park. Well kept and attractive. But not really very large and probably best seen as part of a walk around the walls or a visit to Canterbury Castle, or in combination with just walking the town.

Lovely walks along the castle wall, there is also a little café, a band stand and ideal place to go for a walk with the children. Plenty of benches to rest weary legs and a large grass area to picnic on.
