I did a two-day walk from Niton to Seaview, using the routes given on the Island's tourism web site. The terrain and views are wonderful and varied, but the directions and signage are a mixed bag. This is partly because the terrain changes constantly (through landfalls etc.). I couldn't get mobile phone reception most of the time, so was heavily... More

This is a good day walk from London. Get the train to Portsmouth Harbour, and when you get off the train, turn left, and the ferry terminal is in front of you. The catamaran ferry lands you at Ryde - the railway station is right next door. Buy a ticket on the train to Sandown station. From the station, follow... More

We walked the path between Ryde and Yarmouth in 2 days. I don't know if what we experienced is particular to this section of the path but we rarely saw the coast. Also in some places the path was badly sign-posted. Between Hampton and Yarmouth the signs even took us on a circular route. After about 1 hour we ended... More

Had a great time at the retreat but found our room had extremely noisy people downstairs.Enjoyed a drink at the ferry boat inn on the west side of the island.

Walked the 'Wight' (the coastal path) at the end of June with 4 friends. There are some excellent and beautiful scenic areas, especially leading to Bembridge and The Needles. There were a number of path detours following the bad weather earlier in the year and the subsequent landslips. Some of the route is quite a way inland and parts were... More

I have been wanting to complete this walk for many years as I am from the island. My wife and I walked the Isle of wight over 4 days at the end of May 2014. We started our walk late and after arriving in Ryde. We walked to Wootton and camped at Kites Farm camping site as it was getting... More

We walked along this path between Seaview and Bembridge. It was not a coastal path for a majority of the length. We hardly saw the sea and spent most of the journey between high garden fences down unmade roads. No views to be seen. Not really a pleasant walk. I was going to give it 2/5, but now as I... More

Spent 3 months walking the Island retracing boyhood adventures from urban to rural. All signposted and mainly easy access. Just be aware that four seasons can happen in one day so suitable clothing and shoes advisable IOW just a magical place, just do it!

You need good boots or walking shoes for most of the coastal path. Don't be fooled by the fact you might have joined the path in an urban setting. Outside the towns and villages, the path can be steep, fairly exposed, or quite muddy. That said, it offers fantastic walks for ramblers and, apart from those sections which skirt around... More
