My wife and I visited the gardens on what we thought would be a quiet midweek day. We enjoyed seeing a large variety of roses and it was great that the planting enabled us to get up close to many to check the scents and note the names of ones we liked. In the café, there were a couple of... More

I have been here a few times now and each occasion has resulted in a pleasant experience. I went on a day which was very hot and, roses liking sun, it was a day for trying to find seats in the shade. There are plenty of seats but not a lot out of the sun. Nearly all the roses are... More

I went outside of their regular season for a special event held there. I certainly want to return at peak season to see the roses in full bloom.

This garden has developed into something really special. It is both decorative and informative, with lovely beds showing gorgeous planting ideas, shaded tunnels through rose arches, a peaceful water feature and seating in both open areas and arbours for quietly soaking up the atmosphere. There is also a series of beds which display systematically the different groups of old roses,... More

If you love roses, this is the place to go to. An amazing amount of roses beautifully laid out, most of them with a name-tag, dotted with companion plants which gave me some good ideas for my own little garden. As it was a Saturday and also sunny it was quite busy, we headed towards the tea-room and enjoyed some... More

My partner and I visited this delightful garden today....a hot and brilliantly sunny day at the end of June. I have no adverse criticism to make at all....being fully appreciative and positive about this lovely garden. It shows it's display of roses to perfection and is mind blowing in the variety and colour of the exhibits and a pure joy... More

I am not a huge rose lover, I do like them Very much but find they are sometimes a little 'awkward ' but I am now converted, so many to chose from (not for sale here but to make notes of). It is a pleasurable couple of hours to walk round the many acres of roses. Not on the must... More

These gardens are a must visit if you're in the area. My family have lived in Hemel Hempstead for 40 years and never been! I came from overseas and took my mum and she loved it. The gardens are not too big and are easily walked at a leisurely pace. There's a pretty lily pond in the centre of the... More

I had not visited the garden for many years after a dissapointing first visit. I hardly recognised it, it had improved so much. Truely a feast for the senses, absolutely beautiful and not expensive at £6. Roses of every type and colour. Nice tea room with delicious looking cakes.

Visited this afternoon with friends - have never seen so many roses! Make the most of the limited opening days and go. Wonderful. V. good cafe with plenty of shady/sunny seating too. Roses in perfect condition - not a aphid or blackspot in sight!
