Felt lucky when we arrived on a free entry day. Would happily have paid the entry fee. Sunny day, banks and banks of gorgeous flowers and enticing paths for a gentle potter. What is not to like? I could feel myself unwinding after a horrid week at work just by being somewhere so very beautiful. We were the youngest people... More

Although the gardens were very charming I was a tad disappointed because overall these grounds are now quite compact and no longer as awe-inspiring as once they were. Gone are the acres and acres of single-variety beds and rows-upon-rows of trial-ground varieties that in decades past stretched out almost as far as the eye could see, That's not to say... More

Outstanding - what a lot of flowers, full of colour and vibrancy. There was every possible rose on display, walkways and a lovely cafe. Couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

We were lucky enough to visit these beautiful, tranquil gardens on a lovely sunny day. The number of different, well labelled rose bushes is astonishing and the place has an extremely well cared for appearance - the dead heading must be never ending but is clearly being done. A visit not to be missed for all rose lovers but also... More

Once upon a time the Royal National Rose Society (founded in 1876) fell into financial difficulties and had to sell off a large chunk of their land at Chiswell Green near St Albans. This became the equally famous Butterfly World, but unfortunately it meant that the Rose Society lost vehicle access and parking rights to their property. They relied on... More

The weather has obviously made the flowers late blooming,so the gardens werent as colourful as they should be in June.Only really worth visiting on a sunny day.felt the entrance fee was a bit high

A good opportunity to see a wide variety of roses in blooms. Sometimes fares are held here which add to the attraction of the gardens. Great place if you want to see which roses to add to your garden, or if you just fancy a walk amongst some lovely roses.
