What a gem. Family still live here and their guides are so knowledgeable. You won't believe the artwork housed in this beautiful old house. An absolute must do, better than your average National Trust property.

Hellens is a jewel of a country house!! It is still lived in by the present owners, but open for all of us to enjoy. Be it a gided tour, a concert in their concert hall, a wedding reception, or just a family gathering. I do like visiting Hellens as often as I can.

Visited last summer with my three young children. I found the tour a little disappointing - the guide (who I understand has now retired) spoke only of the artwork in every room. Given that our tour group consisted mainly of young children, I felt he could perhaps have spoken a little about the history of the house and its occupants,... More

Found this almost by accident and it was well worth the detour. A fascinating house, still lived in and full of interesting items. The guided tour was very informative but not a bit dull, enlivened with all sorts of facts not usually found in a guide book. If you are a member of the Historic Houses Association Hellens is a... Spent an afternoon here on a recent holiday in the area. Hellen's house is a wonderfully old (but still lived in) house with informative guides to show you around and bring to life the stories of its occupants. There is a tea room, that is not mentioned in their brochure, but is well worth a visit to soak up the... More

Helen's is full of history, it has a fantastic garden, with great tea and cakes - but most of all great staff. The conducted tour is excellent, full of information but catering for all levels of interest - including children. It is set in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and it is easy to visit other... More

We had an excellent guided tour through the house and family history. Hellens is stuffed with interesting art, textiles and furniture. Even the toilets are like a mini-museum. You are encouraged to sit down which is still unusual in heritage houses. Also unusual, our tour was accompanied by a large ginger cat. Followed the tour with excellent cake and pots... More

Very good guided tour, and some important works of art, but the owners have a massive restoration job on their hands.

My nephews wedding reception was held here on saturday 23 august 2014. Beautiful setting in the hereford countryside. The Great Barn was beautifuly decorated, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Even though the day was abit over cast the grounds looked beautiful and the welcome drinks were held inside the house which of what I saw looked lovely.... More

Couldn't believe the fantastic paintings here. Great commentary from curator Nick; what a character - try and visit before this lovely old guy retires!
