We had an excellent guided tour through the house and family history. Hellens is stuffed with interesting art, textiles and furniture. Even the toilets are like a mini-museum. You are encouraged to sit down which is still unusual in heritage houses. Also unusual, our tour was accompanied by a large ginger cat. Followed the tour with excellent cake and pots... More

Very good guided tour, and some important works of art, but the owners have a massive restoration job on their hands.

My nephews wedding reception was held here on saturday 23 august 2014. Beautiful setting in the hereford countryside. The Great Barn was beautifuly decorated, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Even though the day was abit over cast the grounds looked beautiful and the welcome drinks were held inside the house which of what I saw looked lovely.... More

Couldn't believe the fantastic paintings here. Great commentary from curator Nick; what a character - try and visit before this lovely old guy retires!

Hellens is hidden away in the Herefordshire countryside but has a wealth of history. The guided tour gave an insight into times past. Each room had its own story to tell and with so much interesting information I just had to buy the guidebook (something I seldom do) to remind me of all the stories the house holds. We finished... A while ago we took a guided tour of this lovely historic house. The guide was an amazing story teller and entranced us with his tale of the history of this fascinating house. The whole experience was brilliant even including the damp fousty smell in the rooms, taking you back centuries. Well worth a visit and the gardens were beautiful... More

Wonderful little known gem, tucked away in Much Marcle. so much history here, and such an atmosphere, if you love history, you will love Hellen's. Much Marcle Church is nearby, and also very interesting.

Anyone who likes history this is a must. Still a family home but facinating tours of the house. Steeped in history going back to the time of the Black Prince and further. Some of the original furniture still there. There is a story in every room.

8Helen's Manor offers a view into a home and the inhabitants that shaped and developed it over the centuries. Located in a peaceful rural setting, there are no expensive jewels or priceless artifacts, but there is a lovely manor house with an interesting history and it is presented in a way that helps to bring the people alive. Bring a... More

Having wanted to visit Hellens for some time, we managed to combine it with another trip this weekend. Not what we had expected: a lovely old house with historic connections but it is not focussed on that aspect. It is still in private hands and lived in and perhaps that has led to what felt like a dilution of history.... More
