It has taken us 10 years to get around to visiting but we liked it so much we went twice in a week! The first visit was on a tuesday during school holidays. They were having a science day so had lots of hands on science experiments for children to have a go at with their patient and knowledgeable volunteers.... More

It is remarkable that so much care has been taken to preserve and maintain features of the water industry in such good order. The work done by the dedicated band of volunteers is laudable, Many engines of all sizes working including live steam.

Lots of engines and great friendly staff and volunteers. The day we went they had all the engines up and running and was interesting to talk to the experts. This is really a boy's treat!

Came across this museum by accident, and on a steam day too! Great! Such enthusiasm and knowledge amongst all the volunteers running this museum. No question too stupid to ask! Great to see people who really loved their roles at this museum. I learned a lot as well, as machines, engines and water are not usually my 'cup of tea.'!

This slightly off-beat museum has a lot to offer on normal days, but we managed to go on an afternoon when the engines were in steam. As well as exhibits about local water supply and wartime Hereford, they have a brilliant collection of pumping engines restored to working order by a team of enthusiasts. We went as adults but I... We've lived in this area for 13 years and never visited this museum before. What a mistake! We went on an open steam day which I can recommend - dozens of working steam engines and lots of volunteer engineers to tell you all about them. I speak as a non-scientist and I found it fascinating! There were exhibits such as... More

Went with my 3yo son. It was an in steam day so All the engines were puffing away. Son was not interested in the frog treasure hunt. He just wanted to mess with the interactive features. I would say that it is more suited to older children but we still enjoyed looking at all the machines. The cafe was clean... More

What a little gem of a museum, Organised a trip to Wales and on the return journey called into this gem. The day in question was a steam day. This is where they get these lovely old engines in steam and bring the whole site to life. The volunteers do a brilliant job. Their dedication is amazing. We arrived just... More

Rather difficult to find on the edge of town north of the river this is a nice little museum...but possibly for those who already possess knowledge of pumps etc. Some basic teaching of the principles would not come amiss.
