I was very surprised to learn that entry into this beautiful building was free. It is a Jacobean half timbered black and white building, built in 1621 as part of a row, but is now the only building left standing. It was originally a butchers, then an ironmongers and finally used by bankers. It became a museum in 1929 showing... More

The Old House is one of Herefords Gems, and it's smack bang in the city center. Great Architechture, lovely bit of history.

I love going to the old house in Hereford it's full of local history which I think we should be forever grateful for. When you walk through the house it makes you feel if you've had a few with slanting floors and all the old wooden floors and furniture it's like stepping back in time.

What a beautiful building in a lovely historic town. We were greeted as we entered the building by a lovely young lady who asked us if we would like some information about the building. We agreed and learnt quite a bit. Being a fan of Tudor/medieval history we learnt something new. Well worth a visit if you're in Hereford. And... More

A free exhibition of a medieval butchers shop on 3 floors. Upstairs is authentic and cannot be accessed by those with mobility issues. Located in the town centre with knowledgable staff keen to give you all the detailed information of its history, A great place for a little time travel.

this property is a very fine example of Hereford history so important to keep nice especially the pigeon muck outside should be cleaned off.

A beautiful timbered house in the middle of a bustling market town. The young lady who worked there was very pleasant , knowledgable & obviously loved the place. It's a lovely piece of history, packed full of unusual historic pieces. Free entry too. A pleasant surprise in Hereford.

This Old House is in my local town and it's a place that you see regularly and never go to visit. I am glad that I had time to spare and took the time to go and look round. It had been a number of years since I went and wasn't how I remember it, it was a lot better.... More

This is a must-see for anyone interested in local history and culture, who is visiting Hereford. Superbly well-run mainly by volunteers.
