Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington has many secrets to uncover. Here in one of Henry Holland’s first houses, you can explore the family rooms and walk in the servants’ footsteps down the back stairs, moving around the house unseen by the family and guests. You will find out what happened to William Kemp, LordCawley’s butler, and discover the anguish of a grieving mother during the First World War. Alternatively why not join a below-stairs tour to see if you would have liked being a servant at Berrington?

Lovely walks round the estate, all very planned out. a great tea rooms with tables outside in the courtyard which made it very amenable for those with dogs! The house was very pleasant too and loved the costumes on display. A great few hours with the family.

The only thing stopping me giving one 'star' is the fact that this beautiful old house and the national trust deserve better. My day today was slightly spoiled by a guide in the library. My son was given a clipboard upon entry to the house with a quiz to do as we strolled around. The first clue - "you might... More

Visited here on a very rainy day and still managed to have a great time in the house. Lots to see within the house, especially the costumes. We had great fun trying on some old costumes much to the amusement of other visitors. Didn't get to explore much of the garden due to the torrential rain but we did see... More

The outdoor theatre group doing this production were brilliant. It poured of rain halfway through, we were all soaked, but like all good Brits we soldiered on and it was great. They were funny, yet stuck closely to the story - book not film! The house itself is nice to look around and the dresses exhibit was interesting too. All... More

My wife and I visited this NT place in August. The house and gardens are fascinating and there are some lovely walks around the estate. We only did the short walk around the lake but you could take the longer routes if you had the time. The only spoiling part was the quality of the restaurant. Probably the worst NT... More

Commanding significant grounds and gardens, Berrington Hall is a lovely place to visit. The hall itself is fascinating with interesting exhibitions. Children's woodland play area is excellent.

We visited on a damp day but the views and house cheered us up. We parked in the disabled car parking and were immediately offered a shuttle service to the house. However, we did manage to walk to the house and enjoyed the surrounding parkland. The house is lovely and full of interesting artefacts. The ceilings are outstanding and interesting.... More

Gorgeous building in absolutely stunning grounds! We were pretty rushed in our visit but we had a lovely picnic in the 'woods' and playground and then a quick wander around the house with a stroppy and over excited 2 year old. Ideally explore without the stroppy child!! Probably not a full day in my opinion but a good few hours... More

We visited with our grandchildren on a beautiful sunny day. It was very busy. We used our NT tickets which are a Godsend for taking the children out. We had a picnic in the grounds before doing anything. Both girls wanted to do the trail in the garden before going into the house. There was also a trail for them... More

Very interesting house and gardens with a superb display of 18th century clothing. The staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The grounds are manicured, well presented and well kept. The only negative were the large number of wasps in the courtyard outside the café.
