Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington has many secrets to uncover. Here in one of Henry Holland’s first houses, you can explore the family rooms and walk in the servants’ footsteps down the back stairs, moving around the house unseen by the family and guests. You will find out what happened to William Kemp, LordCawley’s butler, and discover the anguish of a grieving mother during the First World War. Alternatively why not join a below-stairs tour to see if you would have liked being a servant at Berrington?

The house provides quite a contrast between the family area and the servants' quarters, both of which can be visited. The inside is probably more interesting than the exterior, and there are a lot of walks that can we done if the weather is nice. The tearoom could be improved. It is quite small, and has a rather limited range... More

A lovely country house owned by the National Trust The rooms were full of interesting displays which included clothing worn by actors from Sense & Sensibility & Mansfield Park. You are also able to dress yourself Georgian style. I loved ‘The Downstairs’ parts of the house including the Kitchen, Butlers room & the Victorian laundry house. Staff were very friendly... More

Lovely place to visit as all the National Trust properties. The weather wasn't the best but inside it was a really interesting display about old clothes.

The house was very elegant and grounds were lovely. Nice walled garden. Beware of eating at busy times as the teashop is quite small.

The grounds are huge. Wish I could have walked one of the many paths around the grounds created by Capability Brown. The house keeps you engaged in the past and relative present as in the costumes used in the various productions of Sense and Sensibility. The house was embellished with fresh flowers and looked beautiful helped by knowledable guides. Thanks... More

We had a lovely day out here in cool cloudy weather with 3 children aged 5 - 13. There was an outdoor treasure trail for children which kept their interest to the end and gave mum & dad a good walk around the varied grounds of the house. There was also an indoor 'Gruesome Georgians' trail for the house which... More

We arrived in time for the 11.15. introductory talk which was a good insight into the history of the house and it families. This made the place "come alive" so would strongly recommend hearing it. volunteer guides were all enthusiastic which helped explain the various aspects of the house

A thoroughly enjoyable tour of the Hall. A superb display of Regency clothing – some worn by the Pride and Prejudice actors. Some original dresses. We could not believe the fantastic preservation of the original costumes – the colours were so vivid. The grounds are wonderful – we wish we could have stayed longer

Really enjoyed a few hours at this Hall, plenty to see inside and outside. Was very impressed also with the food, the best faggots I have had for many years and at such a cheap cost. Will be going back this year as we always seem to see more the second time around.
