Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington has many secrets to uncover. Here in one of Henry Holland’s first houses, you can explore the family rooms and walk in the servants’ footsteps down the back stairs, moving around the house unseen by the family and guests. You will find out what happened to William Kemp, LordCawley’s butler, and discover the anguish of a grieving mother during the First World War. Alternatively why not join a below-stairs tour to see if you would have liked being a servant at Berrington?

This place is worth a 5 star review every step of the way as far as i'm concerned. Couldn't fault it from the word go. The day we visited, Midlands Kite Flying club were showing their wares in the grounds. So as we approached, the sky was full of some very colourful & interestingly shaped kites of all sizes. They... I would agree that this is typical National Trust though the volunteer guides are some of the friendliest I've met. What is different is the "Downstairs Guided Tour" which I would urge people to take up if available. The Downstairs is still being sorted and so you see it very much in its raw state - very little manufactured history... More

Very typical National Trust property, well presented and knowledgeable volunteers on duty. The house is worth a visit with its Georgian fashion displays. They also host a series of events such as Pride & Prejudice in the open air. All publicised on their website. The gardens are also very pleasant for a stroll and other walks are also available. A... Whilst Berrington Hall has a lot to offer for visitors of all ages, I particularly enjoyed the costume displays and the gardens. As a fan of the BBC Pride and Prejudice series, it was a real treat for me to see some of the original costumes from that production on display in the house. Children of all ages (including adults)... More

Elegant 18th century house with especially good views across the designed parkland in all directions, but with a MAJOR problem for disabled. A very special feature is the domed glass ceiling that provides the natural light to the stair case and landing. The large walled garden is especially good and an attractive lake. Taken over as an empty building by... More

This property came to the National Trust in 1954 when the previous owner could not pay the death taxes. It is free to members - membership is a great idea if you are interested in these types of places. When we were there, they had an exhibit of costumes from the movies.. The self-guided tour took us up and down... More

This NT property is lovely. It is full of character and charm. The guides are friendly and helpful. It is a self guided tour and is easy to negotiate. There are plenty of information sheets to help. The grounds are lovely and views magnificent. The cafe was nice and the staff friendly. Well worth a visit.
