Very nicely presented. Not overly crowded or commercial. Two nuggets of incredible history. Only downside is that the Mappa Mundi is exhibited in a case which is very dimly lit, for it's protection and really quite difficult to see. If one had not examined the explanatory replica in the previous hall, it would have been impossible to fully appreciate. Well... More

Fabulous visit, we combined it with the Tower Tour and walked up onto the Roof to get a great view of Hereford City.

Brilliant, have wanted to see the map for a long time and wasn't disappointed. The chained library was a bonus.

I was a little disapponted with the Mappa Mundi, due to the damaging effect that light can have on an old and delicate artefact it was very dark and difficult to see, but certainly worthwhile to see such an historical document. The volunteer in the Chained Library certainly knew lots about the history and was most helpful in informing me... More

The map itself has to be kept away from hands and too much light, so can be quite difficult to see, but this is made up for with a detailed and excellent exhibition. The chained library is a quirky view into early book-borrowing.

It was good to look round the exhibition first, especially the translated version, before seeing the Mappa Mundi itself, which is in a dimly-lit room. Interesting stuff about the Magna Carta too.

Fantastic. Althought the bright colours have faded (as they would after 700 odd years) the attendant described what the most of the colours would have been. It is a truly remarkable artifact and the English translated version outside the library is brilliant. The chained library transports you back to medieval times. So many facts I didn't know but I do... More

This is the only bit of the Cathedral that charges entrance, & it's good value. Most Herefordians only go when they have guests staying! There are displays leading one up to the actual documents, which displays are well-labelled & informative, showing the context of the Mappa Mundi & some of the things to see on it. A well-made video presentation... More
