To get the best from your visit use the interactive "themappamundi.co.uk" website to explore this complex 14th Century map before your visit (not "mappamundi.co.uk"). Once at the exhibition checkout the map translated into English to refresh your knowledge. Then the Big One - the original map. The light levels are very low for conservation reasons, but by now you know... More

The Mundi Mapp is a must see. Did not realise it's history and the story but was well explained at the cathedral. The story was also explained in audio for blind and partially sighted people which my husband is.

Excellent value and an unique experience, complete with videos and explanations to help you understand why the circular nature. Weird ideas of what species of people there were in the world.

Very explanatory story of the oldest map of the world dating from medieval times. Their concept of the world at the time. Tremendous chained library is quite unique too.

As referred to in another review found the chained library underwhelming given the indifference of the guide but found the Mappa Mundi amazing and could have spent longer had time allowed.

It is a beautiful setting and the literature and Mappa mundi are incredible historical treasures - there is limited literature to view therefore without interaction with the guide the experience is flat and short. The Mappa Mundi, is quite rightly stored out of direct light, but I could scarcely make it out even when right next to it

The guides absolutely made the whole experience for us by explaining the map to us using the translated version so that when we looked at the original we could fully appreciate what we were looking at. Really interesting library and exhibits.

It was interesting to see the chained library and Mappa Mundi but rather expensive on entrance fee considering what there was to see. £5 each for Senior Citizens

Nice cultural experience and the children enjoyed doing the quiz. I have to say they didn't spend much time looking at the Map though! :-) The chained library will be interesting to Harry Potter fans.

So glad we saw this powerful exhibit which explains how medieval people viewed their universe. Very knowledgeable guides. Fairly priced.
