A piece of Old England

A fascinating peek into the way we were in earlier times. The guides are very knowledgeable and the history and architecture of this beautiful school are highly recommended.

My daughter attended Ingenium Academy this summer which is an international music camp hosted at Winchester College. In so doing, we were able to have a tour of the college which is over 500 years old and still serves the nation as a boys school to this day. Stone gargoyles and statues, winding stone steps, bridges over streams gurgling by,... More

Beautiful architecture and educational heritage serve to make this a place worth visiting. Politicians, writers and artists from many countries have studied here and the history of the place is fascinating.

Great experience, takes you back with rich history told by superb guides! It's a must!! Better when the school is on holidays as you are able to see more buildings.

Known for its longest unbroken history of any English school, this College has been providing outstanding education. Originally founded in 1382 to prepare 70 young people from deprived backgrounds for the priesthood during the Black Death epidemic, by William Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, this college now educates around 700 boys from 13 to 18 years of age, with full scholarships... A 'must do' in Winchester. An hours walk and talk through the college some historical practices still in existence, 15th and 16th century graffiti and facts about the current college practices and its students. Excellent and fun all for £7.00.

Winchester College has been teaching boys the "Manners Maketh Man" for over 600 years, and it does so be not accepting bad behaviour from the boys. You can see how it does this as you walk around on the tour, which is interesting and well presented. You cannot walk around on your own. The boys have rules posted on the... More

Reminded us of Hogwarts! This magnificent school and church was what we thought a proper English school should look like. The grounds were beautiful, and history just exuded throughout. The Eating hall was very impressive.

Winchester College is set in lovely buildings in an area of the City which is peaceful and very pretty. It is the Oldest College for boys in the Country and has seen many famous Statesmen pass through its doors, many of us think Eton is the main Private School but Winchester is just as famous.
