A huge hall with a long history 10 mins walk from the centre of town. Houses a huge round table on wall representing King Arthur's. Roof structure is amazing. Don't miss the queens garden through the door in the side wall - it may be closed but ask theattendant.

the most amazing thing about this building is that its free to enter. Amazing for such a beautiful, historical building. The round table and the history are fascinating and there are great exhibitions explaining the history. The building itself is stunning and there are great gardens in the rear. all round a very good few hours spent here

Amazingly there is no admission charge for this ancient building with the replica round table commisioned by Edward I. There's also a huge black marble statue of Queen Victoria, a large copper plate with a likeness of Elizabeth II in relief and fancy steel gates commemorating the wedding of Charles and Diana. But for me the highlight was the building... More

The round table is very impressive and there is timeline exhibition in the adjoining corridor. Outside there is a nice garden and considering there is no entrance fee (although a donation is requested) well worth visiting. The remains of the castle are across the road and worth a look too.

Great Hall was free entry with lots of information, the round table is a must see , the time-line on the halls wall is a must and toilet and gift shop as well. Winchester itself is steeped in history with the oldest bar still in existence dated 1002, everywhere you look there are buildings dating from that period onwards. The... More

Seeing the Round Table is something that has been on my "To Do" list for a while, and very impressive it is. The Great Hall has other things to view: stained glass windows, murals, fancy gates commemorating Charles & Diana's wedding, plus a small museum upstairs in the Long Gallery. Outside there is Queen Eleanor's Garden, a recreation of a... More

The hall houses King Arthur's Table. Possibly. Whether it is or not it is still worth seeing as it weighs 14 of me (and I'm a large man) and is very very old. There is also, slightly randomly, a large impressive sculpture of Queen Victoria. Go visit.

We didn't have time to go into the tunnel or walk everywhere round the castle but there are lovely views - and lots of uphill walking and steep stairs. The Great Hall seems empty when you go in. The entry is free with a suggested donation of £3. There is a statue of Queen Victoria at the foot of the... More
