Interesting history

Came by here whilst visiting Winchester. Entrance is free and the table the centre piece hung high up on the wall. There is also a lovely little garden adjacent to the hall.

Admittedly there isn't a massive amount to see in the great hall but I still feel it is well worth a visit! There are some interesting information panels and the round table which is well worth a look! I personally just find it a great pleasure to stand inside a room that old which is so well preserved and just... More

It's a wide, high-ceiling hall with the round table hung very very high. You can also learn about (mostly bloody) British royal and revolutionary history as well as King Arthur's legend.

If in Winchester, I wouldn't skip this as it is free and certainly historic. However, bring your imagination as there isn't a great deal to see or read. I appreciated seeing the Round Table and there are some informative signs as well as some interactive computer screens. I feel as though more could be done to bring this site to... More

This is a lovely place to visit in Winchester. Entrance is free and it has a lovely summer garden at the back. Probably worth a 30 minute walk around.

Took my daughter and family who were visiting from New Zealand. She was brought up in Winchester but has not been to the Great Hall for many years so was keen to show her children. Interesting for a short visit.

Not to be missed when in Winchester. So much history with plenty of information panels to read. The great Round Table dating from the 13th century and painted in Tudor times. Don't miss Queen Eleanor's garden.

A visit to the Great Hall, is to take a step back in time, to the 13th Century. King Arthur and the Knights of the round table, where legends and the great mythology of the British Realm began. The round table signifies part of King Arthurs quest that "all things be equal". The table with its tudor rose now hangs... More
