A fitting tribute to the soldiers of the Royal Hampshire Regt.

This is a lovely regimental museum. The museum does its best to contain the rich history and heritage of the Royal Hampshires, but the space is a bit limited. The staff at... read more

This is a lovely regimental museum. The museum does its best to contain the rich history and heritage of the Royal Hampshires, but the space is a bit limited. The staff at this museum are delightful and helpful. I visited at a time when the Great War exhibit was being renovated. I would like to visit again to see what... More

Visited yesterday with Winchester's other military museums. They even kept open for us because we had travelled a fair way. The displays were excellent particularly the striking drums and standards as you walk in. The displays were well thought out and informative. A most interesting mixture and very well lit.The volunteer on duty could not have been more helpful.Keep up the... More

Very interesting small museum set in a lovely house in Winchester. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, more than willing to research relatives who have served in the regiment at any time. I personally have received a copy by e-mail of the Regimental Journal detailing the last days that the 2nd Battalion spent at Gallipoli which records the wounding and subsequent... More

I think this museum has been limited by the lack of space, a lot has been squeezed in, which leaves it a little disjointed. That said it is free and try's to present as much as possible of the history of the now gone Hampshire Regiment which is commendable. I would suggest it is visited as part of Winchester Military... Another slightly pokey regimental museum which feels as if the collection is just a random assortment of items shoved together. It needs more space and more order.

A small but pleasant museum giving a good insight into the History of the old Regiment. The Staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and it made the visit worthwhile for me as my Grandfather served in the Regiment during the First World War.

It's very conveniently situated close to the town centre. The building is imposing both inside and outside. The exhibits are well laid out and labelled and the staff are very helpful.

In this day and age where you have to pay for everywhere you go in ,especially Cathedrals, what a refreshing change somewhere to be free! There are a few souvenirs to buy as well. Lots to read in a small museum even if you are not interested in military you can learn all sorts of things through looking at the... More

I have visited this museum on numerous occasions. It's free and very educational . Although small there's plenty to enjoy. There's a picture gallery in one room. Then there's the room with all the medals and insignia of the Regiment and uniforms and weaponry. You also get the full history of the Royal Hampshire's.A very good museum to visit and... More

Most regimental museums are small, this is no exception. But it is in a lovely building and is well laid out and nicely presented. The staff in particular are very helpful and seem genuinely pleased to see you, nothing is too much trouble. Ask for help if you want to know about an ancestor who served in the regiment, the...
