This place is within the centre of Winchester. My bf took me here as it's where he used to be housed in the barracks when he was in the army. The museum itself is fascinating, a must if you like history and war. It's not that big but for me it was lovely to see a bit of my bf... More

The long history of military activity associated with the UK is covered here. Very complete and thorough, well laid out, and well presented. One of the better military museums, especially in presenting the infantry and its major contributions. A must for a history buff. The Waterloo diorama is outstanding and provides a good overview of the battle. Entry charge is... More

A very well laid out military museum. A huge amount of information to take in , probably too much for one trip. The displays are well presented and clearly labelled.

Often visit here. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming. The food is simple but well presented. I particularly like the paninis - always presented with a small side salad and dressing. Very reasonably priced too. A place where the staff are pleasant and seem to value your custom. Highly recommended if you're at the top of town. Pity they're... More

The museum is a well organized history of the Rifle Regiment. Good displays, maps, uniforms. A well stocked shop with Green Jackets stuff.

The fount and origin of three of the British Army's most dynamic and idiosyncratic regiments - the King's Royal Rifle Corps, the Rifle Brigade and the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. The development of this stripped-down style of soldiering (no colours, arms carried at the trail, and a brisk pace of 140 paces per minute) is explained in this two-storey... More

The building is situated in the grounds of the old Peninsular Barracks ( which is worth visiting on its own architectural merits ) and ,in my opinion ,is one of the best Regimental museums I have ever visited. The exhibits are distributed over two spacious floors and trace the development of British Rifle Regiments in a logical and attractive way.... More

So much informative history and set out chronologically. Opportunity to 'fire' an ancient rifle. Highly recommended.

A very wet afternoon in February and a spare couple of hours called for a visit to the Rifles museum with my 92 year old father. Nicely presented in chronological order the museum reminds you of the terrific number of campaigns the British army has been involved in over the past 250 years. Dad is not so agile but the... More

I and my husband loved this place, even though I was hesitant at the start. A wealth of information was at hand and very informed helpers and staff made us feel very welcome. A lot of history in this place and so glad we popped in, spent two hours soaking it all up. A must visit if in Winchester, a... More
