Have visited Marwell many times, but it has gone down hill. Many empty enclosures, marmoset walk through now closed, many animals not let out, many that were couldn't see with all the vegetation, only two tigers which Marwell is supposed to be renowned for, train not running, gift shop & restaurants very expensive and toilets very smelly/dirty. We ended up... More

Haven't visited Marwell for a few years so decided to take the family there for a day out. We had a great visit with loads to see and do. The animals always seem well looked after. We all had a great day. Only big difference this time was the fact that the train was £2-50 per person, it was free... More

A family visit to marwell in the spring sunshine, a pleasant experience. The wide open spaces made it great to wander and didn't make the fact that it was bust a problem. We are very familiar with our local zoo, of which we are very fond, so it was a pleasant experience to visit a wildlife park.

We are very familiar with Colchester zoo and visit almost weekly (worth a visit!). As a wildlife park Marwell is completely different. A relaxed atmosphere that even during the easter holidays felt a wide open space to wander around without queues and crowds. The big cats were gorgeous. Unlike previous reviewers we felt the animals were in excellent condition and... More

A Zoo is a Zoo, but some try harder to do right by the animals.Marwell is like that, proof that animals are happy here is that they have a very high success rate with breeding programmes. The enclosures are very large, and the park is laid out in a beautiful and sympathetic way. The restaurant gets very busy, but is... More

We visited on 12 April with our daughter & our 3 Grandchildren. Queue very slow moving & we got off to a very bad start at the hilltop kiosk & toilets - our 3 year old tripped over the VERY uneven & DANGEROUS paving stones, getting a nasty graze to his legs. This issue is something that really should be... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your review following your visit to Marwell Zoo. During school holidays, especially when it’s warm and sunny, the entrance can get quite busy. I am a pass holder for another zoo and got free entry into Marwell otherwise I would have felt I wasted my money. My family all agreed there was something missing at this wildlife place. Lots of empty cages, some very drab set in nice enough grounds. Most fun my kids had was rolling down a hill whilst in there.... More

Thank you for your comments. We are very disappointed to hear Marwell Zoo didn't meet your family's expectations. We recommend guests revisit enclosures in case the animal is quietly resting or hiding, they may come out to play later in the day. It's great your kids had fun rolling down the hill on our back lawn behind Marwell Hall. Our... More

This is a wonderful zoo. It is very spacious and my kids and me enjoyed the tractor ride as well as the many animals. It has nice playgrounds and friendly staff. The only downside is the food - We had some kids meals (sandwiches) and the bread was old. It was also very expensive. The adult food was disgusting.
