This zoo would be amazing in the summer months but unfortunately due to the day we went on (rainy and in November time) the majority of the animals were inside or elsewhere so we didn't see a wide variety of species. The penguins were active along with the giraffes, monkeys and zebras but didn't see many others out and about.... More

After joining again as members last month I visited for what I hoped would be a relaxing walk to look at the animals. Instead I was made to feel uncomfortable by the staff regarding the use of my life time refillable Marwell Flask. Having purchased it at the graze cafe and being told I could refill it their and at... More

Hello Ian C and thank you for visiting Marwell Zoo. We’re delighted that you had a memorable day out with us and our many wonderful animals. We’re disappointed to hear that you feel our prices are expensive as we continue to review them to ensure that we are still representing good value for money, whilst being comparable to other attractions... I was really looking forward to going here, the weather was gorgeous and I thought it would have been a fun day, the thing is is that it's lovely that we have amazing wildlife here to see but it's so sad that they're in such small confined places, they have hardly anywhere to go, when I went yesterday there was... An enjoyable day out with a good variety of animals was overshadowed by a leopard and tiger continually pacing in their enclosures. A previous response from the management claiming this is natural behaviour is incorrect. This is typical behaviour of certain animals in captivity. These animals appear to be unstimulated, and I would argue they are not suitable for a... More

Hi Rhys S, thank you for visiting Marwell Zoo and leaving us a review. Our team leader for carnivores has written an extensive response below, specifically for you. We trust this answers your questions to a satisfying degree. ‘It is not as cut-and-dry as a boredom and stress scenario. Repetitive animal behaviours are usually categorised into either natural or stereotypic... More

A very spacious Zoo with plenty of wonderful Wildlife too See. Gift Shops and a variety of places to eat and on a hot day, there are lots places to have a picnic. There are also a few children's playgrounds and generally so much to see and do. I think it is definitely worth a visit as there is something... More

I must say I was very disappointed with the zoo. Whether they are doing extensive cleaning or whether it was a bad day to visit, but there was a lot of empty enclosures, the only highlight was the giraffes, that enclosure was fantastic. Please don't get me wrong, the information about each animal/section was great, but it just felt very... More

Had fun with the family, granddaughter loved it. There were lots of animals to see and you could get close to many of them. The queues for the cafes were very long, even getting a coffee took ages - perhaps they weren't expecting so many people as many food places were closed.

Hi fishand, thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We are disappointed to hear that your visit did not meet expectations. This year, Marwell is making a very large investment to replace all of our road train carriages with brand new units, which we hope to introduce in June. Regrettably, in the short term we... More

Visited on Saturday 7th March. Had a great time and as not too hot a lot of the animals were out and about - our favourites were the giraffes....There are some good play areas which my daughter likes. Well laid out and signposted. Free parking. Only gripe(s) are that baby changing pull-down tray in gents near the penguins hangs over... More
