The history museum

The video of the window and history was eye catching and the garden was the real highlight here and you can dress up in costume.

Nice Tudor house in Southampton outskirts by the city walls. Good Tudor garden as well. Building is a good walk round with lots of interesting facts and things to see. Sadly longest opening hours are at weekend. And cafe closes quite early during the day. But all in all good day.

As an historic building it does what is says on the package. The garden out the back is set out Tudor style and luvly in good weather to sit out in. However, the café we found was a big let down compared to the ones we have visited at other historic sites which sell better quality and variety of food.... More

We visited on a very cold day in January, so couldn't spend as long in the lovely Knot Garden as we wanted, but had a good hour here. The museum gives you a good insight into the range of people who lived and worked in the Tudor House over the centuries, and how the city changed around it. The cafe... More

The building and garden have been well restored and provide a good insight into some 900 years of Southampton history. Particularly pleasant sitting in the cafe overlooking the knot garden.

There is likeable stuff in the Tudor House, but mostly it feels like a small local museum with not a lot to show. The original Tudor house with its character and history is hard to see and feel through all the restoration. Our wedding reception was in Eastgate House, Rochester, which retains all the original character, and is quite wonderful.... More

It's been painstakingly restored, a real piece of history and the garden and cafe are great. The presentation is a bit of a mishmash - a disjointed collection of things thrown together. There is a spooky commentary that doesn't actually tell you much and odd bits and pieces in the rooms. I'd like to know more about the people who... More

My partner and I went to Southampton for a couple of days after Christmas, on the 30th December we went to the SeaCity Museum and paid for the ticket that would get us around all of their exhibitions and also into the Tudor House. The SeaCity Museum was fantastic & after a bite to eat we walked over to the... More

The Tudor House has a cafe which does not require the paid access to the Tudor House proper. It is situated by the Tudor House garden, and in nice weather you can sit outside and enjoy the garden and town walls in the centre of Southampton. The menu is short but tasty, prices are very reasonable, service is efficient and... More

Worth visiting, suitable for everyone, disabled access . There is an audio, light show explaining the history of the house, lasts for about 10mins, slightly spooky but suitable for children. It's included in the admission price. An explorer room with activities for children. A shop that sells local produce and souvenirs and on-site café. Good toilet facilities. Don't miss the... More
