The Tudor house museum used to be the jewel in the crown of Southampton's historical attractions; a Tudor Merchant's house that had evolved through the ages housing a fascinating collection of Southampton related exhibits that would keep visitors fascinated all day. Since it needed some major structural work the vandals in charge have used that as an opportunity to turn... More

It's a great looking building and a very interesting insight into the old world. It can get busy with school groups so perhaps pick a weekend to look around. The garden and old walls out the back are a great hidden gem. They do weddings here and I can see why you would want it here as it makes for... More

Very good wheelchair access for a historical building, only two places I couldn't go. If you have a HUGE scooter you won't manage the lift. But big welcome for me, my children, my assistance dog. The video bit is normally a boring start but not here, really cool lighting effects. Lots of things to look at and not too much... More

A large old Tudor house which suffered some creative reconstruction in the Victorian era but mostly still intact, the tours starts with audio visually impressive introduction in main room you can then go on tour of the rest of the house (with an audio guide) which has quite large number of rooms and includes some curios from the old Southampton... The museum has very friendly and helpful staff. The interactive way of viewing the house in different times (Tudor, Victorian, and nowadays) is very interesting and helpful, and I can imagine fun for kids as well. The renovation of the house (there is an interesting video on how they renovated and preserved the house) makes it accessible for people in... More

This Southampton house with Norman foundations and alterations dating up until the 21st century is a good example of a building which has survived by chance, but is much knocked about. It sits forlornly among ghastly modern housing although there are other ancient buildings (among them the Duke of Wellington pub and a former merchant's house) in the same vicinity,... More

This famous Tuder House I dates back to 1492 built by John Dawtrey the house has been home to the eminent Tudor lawyer Lord Lister, artist George Rogers and Victorian bonnet maker Eliza Simmonds. A museum since 1912 it has welcomed many visitors. The Banqueting Hall is a spooky experience taking the visitor through history of Tuder House. The Tudor... More
