Acres of open space to walk the dog, cycle or walk. Many different paths to vary your route. A cafe hidden away offers good refreshment and The Cowherder pub on the edge is well worth a visit.

Nice wide open spaces virtually in the city centre. Lots of room for people, cyclists, dogwalkers, children and for picnics. We walk our dog here most days.

This is one of Southampton's show pieces and a haven of peace. Pity the forestry is not maintained thoughout Southampton as many trees are being strangled and killed with ivy which will result in barren land and huge expense removing the greenery. Needs urgent action before it is too late.

A stroll through the lit paths and through the old cemetery is so romantic, and it's brilliant to see it filled with lads playing ball games and children enjoying the ponds and wildlife. This is a great family place to be.

Very large green-area, in the centre of a large city. Very nice to get away from things. Lovely big lakes too

A lovely place amongst the grey city centre surroundings, so glad the common is in Southampton! Lovely place to spend with friends in the summer.

Lots of places to explore, open space to play, wildlife and trees. We are lucky to have this space in our city.

A beautiful place to go for a walk any time of the year. Hasn't changed since my childhood and that's a large part of the appeal. Away from the noise of traffic and the concrete jungle. One of the best things about Southampton.

Id love to say this is a beautiful place as it used to be but.My husband has been assulted by a man he did not know last summer whilst we were walking along. There is dog poo scattered around n not cleaned up and the duck pond is a mass breeding ground for RATS .We have seen them even in daylight... A great place to go walking, running, or cycling in the city. Take the kids and get them running around before having a picnic - a good low cost bit of nearby adventure!
