I like the circular walk around the park. The play area is great for kids, with an area for physical workout and a climbing frame. There is a duck pont, ornamental lake - which people fish in, and a now defunct boating lake.

The Common in Southampton is a haven for wildlife and visitors there are many events held on the Common throughout the year and its such a wonderful place to get away from the manic traffic. The large grassed areas get very busy with lunch time visitors who need a break. You should visit the Common just for the shear beauty,... More

Wide open space, opportunity to fly a kite, play football, fish, conserve, take a cup of coffee or something more, feed the ducks (no bread please), explore an historic graveyard, walk the dog, run a race (Sat 5K), attend a concert, listen to bats, ride a bike, study the wildlife and plants (some very rare), get lost....

You can go to this park walking, by bike,... its amazing and nice. You have a lake, a lot of grass to be lazy or be w your friends, there is the old cementery where they are some of the people from the Titanic.

The Common is a part of the chain of green spaces in Southampton, and the largest of them. It is lovely for walking, has several lakes, beautiful trees, lots of places to stop and sit on the grass on a sunny day. A circuit at a good pace will take you 40 minutes, but you can spend much longer by... More

Great facility located in the city centre. It is well maintained and has many facilities suitable for all age groups. I use it every week for the Saturday park run when you have up to 700 runners doing their weekly 5k run.

The Common is somewhere with something for everyone: a park, pool and ice cream stand for the kids, football, the Hawthorns Centre, The Cowherds pub, a duck pond. It's so beautiful, especially if you go a bit deeper into the woodlands. I've been so lucky nature spotting there (lizards, buzzards, badgers). I recommend everyone visit.

It's a nice place to spend on a Sunday afternoon when out for a stroll. There's the Cowherds pub which is a great place with a bit of character. In the summer months children to go in the play area, I believe there's a shallow pool there. The duck pond is a nice visit if that that's what you like... More
