Had a wonderful day aboard for the America Cup races (yes the ones that were cancelled) but it did not matter. We explored the engine room, bridge, foredeck and after deck and had an exhilarating day out. And we were taken around the Solent not by a salty old Sea Captain but by a very competent, patient and delightful young... More

Fantastic historical ship to enjoy an excursion with a difference.Really friendly staff.Great food and drinks on board and not too expensive.I was on the voyage with 3 very interesting speakers talking about the Titanic and then the one with amazing live music from the excellent Soulcatchers band.I loved both trips and will be going again as soon as I can!

Spent the day aboard. Plan was to watch America's Cup racing, but that was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Still a brilliant day cruising the Solent. A fascinating ship, with an interesting history which is well described on board. A friendly crew of volunteers eager to share their enthusiasm. The very best way to experience Southampton Water and the... More

Just had the most fabulous experience of sailing on board SS Shieldhall out to The Brambles (the Solent) down Southampton Water. Beautiful old ship with some delightful features - friendly, helpful and very enthusiastic crew and captain - who are all volunteers. Learnt much local history from a very well informed and clear-speaking narrator as we were sailing. Plus, all... More

On this ship were a few friendly vikings explaining viking life which was fun especially when I dressed up and held some weapons. On the ship there was a fully functional bar, running commentary and excellent view. The ship also had a humongously loud and high pitch horn, and... its own annoying theme tune

We went out on the Ss Shieldhall on its 60th anniversary cruise. What a experience. You get shown around by enthusiastic volunteers and are able to visit most areas of the ship unimpeded including the bridge and the engine room. Seems perfect for anyone who is interested in britsh heritage or loves ships. It is preserved by a charity and... More

We have held two events on the Shieldhall now. It's a beautiful old ship and the crew are clearly very proud of her, and rightly so. They are all friendly, helpful and passionate about what they do. Nothing is too much trouble for them which makes it all the more special an experience. The Shieldhall is a very special asset... More
