We've been on the Shieldhall a few times (including recently to see the Bournemouth Airshow), but what keeps us coming back is the level of access. I don't think there's a single "no entry" or "staff only" sign on the entire ship. At most tourist attractions there are areas that are off-limits, but on the Shieldhall you can go where... More

My visit to the steamer was to enjoy watching the Bournemouth Air Show together with my younger son and grandson (14).We left Poole Quay in fine sunny weather, steamed down the harbour and across to an anchorage off Bournemouth Pier. There were several RN vessels anchored (HMS Iron Duke,HMS Protector and an RFA Helicopter Training ship which was known to... More

After spending a day on Shieldhall for the 2014 Bournemouth airshow, we decided to book both days this year. We were not disappointed. It was a great way to view the airshow but was also a great day out on its own merits. The crew are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble and it makes a pleasant change... More

Fantastic day, I cannot recommend Shieldhall enough, all the crew are friendly and eager to talk to you, there is pretty much nowhere that you cant go, if you want to go see the Captain on the bridge, thats fine, want to go look at the engines? thats fine too, Nicely stocked bar and the bacon rolls are amazing

We went on board the Sheildhall to watch the airshow at Bournemouth. The staff were first class and gave all of us lots of attention. Food and drinks were also great. For the kids they could collect stickers once they had visited certain areas of the boat including the engine room. The boat was great and we had front to... More

We travelled down from Glasgow to visit friends and the Shieldhall was our main activity - and it was brilliant. What a charismatic and amazing vessel. The highlight has to be the opportunities to visit the bridge and get down in the engine room. How many opportunities do we have to visit a working triple expansion steam engine? The technology... Last night we were lucky enough to experience a trip out to Cowes on this beautiful, well loved steamship. She is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who do a really great job. The evening was to celebrate the last night of Cowes week and included 2 unforgetable experiences for us. The first was a fly past and aerobatic... More

Had a wonderful day aboard for the America Cup races (yes the ones that were cancelled) but it did not matter. We explored the engine room, bridge, foredeck and after deck and had an exhilarating day out. And we were taken around the Solent not by a salty old Sea Captain but by a very competent, patient and delightful young... More
