I regularly walk through the park as part of my commute and I never tire of changing scenery. The dramatic mist and frostiness of a crisp winters morning to the gentle relaxing breeze of a summers evening. There is oodles of space for all groups from walkers to footballers to the family groups. Pitch and putt golf course for a... More

Riverside Park is very local to me, so a very nice place for a walk, looking at nature and feeding the ducks. There is a lot of parkland, river walks, and small train that runs from April to October, but I often feel that the park as a whole is very underused, and could be used for festivals, fairs, and... Ideal location to stretch the legs if you are straying at the nearby Holiday Inn and also great for views of the numerous cruise ships berthed nearby. Remember to take your camera. There are some tea rooms nearby as well as a kiddies play area.

Needs to have a tea shop in the park!, But there is a pub at the Mansbridge end for refreshments, and sometimes coffe at the Woodmill.

If life has been hectic, busy and you are exsisting as only a cog in the machine, then ladies when you are walking along the waters edge watching the coressing movement of fish darting though the clear, clean river water as the gently weaving water reads seem to hypnotize your senses and bring your self back to real you, the... I really try not to take Riverside Park for granted. In under 2 minutes I can walk from my front door and be by the river. There is a pitch & put course, tennis courts, football and cricket pitches, playgrounds, cycle tracks, pontoon, pooh sticks bridge, fishing, ducks, swans, geese, large open areas of grass for lazing or running around... I can't tire of "The Rec" as we knew it, in thousands of visits, since childhood, and my Nippers love it as much as me. A jewel, in the heart of my beloved Bitterne Park. A Summer Sunday walk, by the river, maybe to the White Swan, for a tasty nosebag, and a pint or two, of foaming, English, cask-conditioned... More

We often visit the riverside park, its only a few minutes walk from home. Well maintained and used, the only suggestion would be more lights - it gets dark in the winter, and its a good 20-30 minute walk from one end to the other!

Such a lovely walk along the river Itchen, Nice place to take children to feed the ducks and grab an ice cream, this walk goes from Cobden Bridge all the way to Bishopstoke if you wanted to venture this far, I have done it but cheated on the way back and caught a bus.

Having loved near here for over a year walking through twice a day I've had plenty of time to observe.....it's great on a sunny day, as long as you're not on your own, when the gangs of bored teenagers can make it a little intimidating at dusk. A good place to walk, run and generally chill out with a picnic... More
