There are several ways to get to the Isle of Wight, but undoubtely Red Funnel ferries is the best option. An easy on-line booking system is the entrance gate to them. Then, check-in (we travelled by car inside the ferry) is quick and easy, but I notice that it's just a moment to get to the ferry with the car.... More

Efficient service, somewhere to eat on-board and cheaper that Wightlink at peak times. Slight delays in return service, but being Cowes week this was quite excusable. I enjoyed the slightly longer crossing from Southampton. More to see.

I am from Southampton, and when it comes to travelling to the Isle of Wight there is only one name. Red Funnel. I now live in Portsmouth where the local is Wighlink. For some reason Wightlink seem to charge 40% more for a shorter journey in older, more run down ferries. So naturally the choice is to pay a cheap... More

As we had never used the ferry before and were towing our caravan we were a little nervous however pleasantly surprised how easy it was at Southampton. The crossing was smooth and as we had the dog we sat in the dog friendly seating area and had a pleasant cup of coffee during the crossing. However the return was a... More

Took a day trip to Cowes for lunch at Murrays. For two of us return £45 which is great value and the trip was quick at 25 minutes. Journey was comfortable with good seating and the whole thing just works well. However, finding Terminal 2 is NOT easy if you're a stranger to the area and it's badly signposted. The... More

Used the red funnel to cross to iow in a hire car. I was a bit worried about this but no need as it was all very organised so you knew where to go etc. They lined you up then boarded leaving a gap so you could comfortably get out of your car. The lounges were clean and comfortable and... More

I use red funnel mainly because i have no choice when i want to go to cowes on foot but overall they are cheaper and better than wightlink. The ferries are fairly old now but have been refitted here and there over the years. Its very rare for one to be out of service due to engine problems as happens... More

Living on the rock, any visits to the mainland always include handing hard earned cash just for the privilege of getting to the land of my birth. European freedom to roam - what's that? Red Funnel though are doing some good deals, so thank you for that! Minus points include the massive queues for food at breakfast time as greedy... More
