Spent a long weekend in Southampton where the highlight was a family party aboard the "Princess Caroline" moored in Ocean Village. A novel idea with a sit down buffet which was excellent and bar followed by music etc. on the top deck to finish off a most enjoyable evening. We stayed 3 nights at the Premier Inn, New Road, where... More

When this opened it was a bit out of the ordinary and people visited for the shopping and novelty factor......Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth totally outstripped Ocean Village and continues to do so. Unless you have a boat in the Marina, there is no real reason to go out of your way to visit this place any more.

In the nicest possible place, was a waste of time and I'll never get the back, quite clean and tidy but nothing there of any interest... To be fair there is nothing in the surrounds either, I would almost suggest getting back in the car and going to lymington or on a boat and get the hell out of their

I came here to go on a Seadogz Extreme RIB experience (which was great) and intended to hang around expecting there to be a bit of bustle and stuff going on. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Ocean Village is a 'mixed-use' marina that is largely office park, part building site and part apartments, with two cinemas, a couple of restaurants... More

When the place opened back in the 80s it was THE place to be seen... Now.. most of the shops have closed, and although there's a couple of middle-of-the-road eateries and a cinema... nothing is that special.. it's mostly flats and residential buildings... Could have been so much more... but there we go... visit Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth if you... More

If you are travelling here, other than the shopping mall, you will find it a disappointment. Completely lacking in services for the general tourist. Its future plans include billions of pounds in upgrades and investments to improve the place; but, unfortunately, the plans do not include a beach, which is what the place could use to take better advantage of... Lovely setting - lots of boats - used to be a lively place with restaurants etc, but shops & restaurants mainly gone. I believe there's still a cinema there, but Ocean Village is very quiet now

the car park full went to three there and it was only early, so ended up going somewhere else. Also at the moment there is much scaffolding around buildings which means if you go to some places along the front it is longer to walk round, and not attractive. Generally I like it with the boats for a view, the... More

Woefully neglected and under-utilised. There's 1 pub, 1 restaurant and little else, apart from the boarded off wasteland. Apparently a hotel is imminent, though I doubt necessary. Southampton NEEDS its own version of Gun Wharf Quays, an opportunity missed.
