Whilst exploring the older parts of Southampton I came across this very old and pretty building known as the Medieval Merchants House, its strange seeing such an old building next to modern places. I was unable to visit inside as it close during the winter months, but I will return when in the area next.

Had a look round outside, but not open between November and march. We would have paid to go inside, if it had been open.

Southampton was great a great surprise - a small city and... More

We were amazed at how well the house has been maintained and refurbished. This is by far the oldest house we've ever been in, and we were impressed by how well the merchant lived in medieval days.

Pleasant gardens as well as the house. We enjoyed coffee here too. Recommend a visit if you are going to the Tudor House.

What a find this house was the staff were friendly and informative. The gardens are great and we enjoyed lunch there. A clever and different way of showing history I thoroughly recommend this house to everyone.

Sited in an area of modern buildings this loan survivor of Herr Gorings Town planners is an interesting step back in time. although there are a few other restored medieval houses in the UK this one is the best without a doubt.

It is strange having such an old property surrounded by new buildings, although the second world war had a little hand in that.
