A wonderful little theatre

It is so nice to see a performance in such a small theatre with such character and charm. I have seen many performances here, and would choose this over a large theatre any day.

We liked this traditional theatre - easy off street car parking close by (free on a Sunday) - good views from the circle where we were seated. Yes the production wasn't the best but we were talking children's theatre and with two 7 & 9 year old boys in toe we felt it was probably at the right level (the... More

We went at New Theatre Royal for a performance of the Rite of Spring. The last play before the theatre close for restoration (that it definitely needs). A curious place with a intriguing Victorian taste, but now we've to wait till 2014...

The theatre is a real Victorian delight. The staff make you welcome from the word go.It was a great show but what really made it special was the surroundings. A real gem in the heart of Portsmouth.

Love this theatre, although tiny & short on funds, they keep it really well. It's just what a theatre should be. Lovely friendly staff, great shows & gigs. You really must check it out.

Renovated back to its orgional form (complete with re-instated band pit!) this is a very traditional Theatre, which host evenings accordingly. It even has a delightful little hidden cafe (which is open all day) too.

My wife and I visited the New Theatre Royal as our daughter was in a dance performance. The staff were friendly, the decor retains and olde-worlde charm (pleasant, not run-down) and you felt as if you were having a private performance! If you are in the lower stalls you may have to crane your neck up to look but this... More
