A very well distributed museum with some hands on stuff for the kids, and the young at heart. We spent at least an hour going around and reading everything, there are two lots of videos to watch too, worth a visit.

Considering the overall importance of the Royal Navy in the history of Britain one might have expected something a bit bigger and more engaging that the RN Museum. It has a good collection of items about Lord Nelson and lots of display panels but lacks the chronological approach of most military museums. I did not come away with any impression... More

Visited the RN Museum in September 2014. Really informative about many aspects of naval life. Would recommend for all ages - whether connected to the forces or not!

There was so much to see in this museum where one could almost spend a whole day. I particularly enjoyed the Nelson experience although every thing else was very interesting.

Could be so much better...the exhibition seemed a little thin to me. Would like to see more interactive stuff to get a real feel for life in the Navy.

A little overshadowed by the big ships to climb over, this three part museum was a surprise. Looks like it might be a bit stayed and old fashioned as you come in, but gets better and better and better as you move into the more modern parts - the third section especially bringing great joy to children of all ages!... The museum is part of the historic dockyard site including HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. There's so much to see here and easily worth half a day to see.
