One of the most beautiful arboretums whatever the weather and time of year. While most people head off to the main area, take time out to go to Silk Wood, you won't regret it.
You can do either a long walk or short walk around the arboritum. Good for coffee and cake, too. Lovely trees and I've been lucky it has always been sunny when I've visited! It looks like there is a new visitor block under construction but that's set well away from what is currently there.
I love it every time. So this time I decided I must write a review. Me, my wife and our dog walked for hours, for the first time we explored into an area we have never been before called Silk wood which I highly recommend as it is more natural than the main arboretum, but also beautifully managed. 5 stars... Beautiful sunny day, albeit February - we took my sisters dog for a walk and as I had no wellies we stayed on the path and it was still amazing. So many lovely dogs and their friendly owners, not to mention the trees. I can only manage what it must be like during the other, more colourful, seasons.

Lots of beautifully lit trees, and some novel ideas like illuminated bubbles blown across the path, laser lit smoke rings, plus Santa Clause. BUT the path was crowded and ankle deep in mud - take your wellies!
A great forest with formal arboretum and also more natural woodlands Dogs allowed in most areas and large areas where can run free. fantastic to visit in autumn as leaves turn red and orange but have wet weather gear Can be crowded in restaurant in autumn so food choice was limited by 2pm
