A beautiful place with Fantastic walks. A nice playground for the children and a decent cafe for a nice cuppa. Well worth a family visit.

We tend to pop in now and again when we are passing between Wales and the south of England, so it's good to see the changes through the seasons. The annual ticket gives entry to many other attractions including the Wales Botanic Gardens and Kew which makes it excellent value. There are a couple of major areas to explore that... More

While I accept it,s probably not the best time of year to visit an arboretum,I was disappointed that there weren't,t any or very few natural flowers under the trees,a few wild primroses, one small drift of daffodils,no snowdrops or crocus.Very bare and stark on a cold Thursday in March. On the plus side the cafe was lovely and the birdsong glorious and... A lovely walk could get away from people when needed and it was lovely to see the buds just starting to form and some of the early spring blooms already out

We went for a walk around the arboretum. It was a very pleasant walk through the countryside. The downside of which is that you pay for the priviledge. It was quite muddy on the day we went so appropriate footwear is recommended. If you have an interest in trees then this place is a must visit. Although I am not,... More

First time visit at the end of February and will visit again in the summer. Lots of people but didn't feel full. Dogs can be walked on one side of the arboretum (and there were many off lead) but are banned on the "old" side. Visited the café and enjoyed the quality food, served by helpful staff. Sturdy footwear is... More

Went here to take my son on the Gruffulo trail. Very boring. Couldve made so much more out of it while on the loop, like have the other characters around the place too! Wouldve made it more exciting. And i thought the cost was expensive. Evem tho website said you only paid for parking- NOT TRUE!! was £5 adult. For... More

Thanks for your feedback on the Gruffalo trail, we are really sorry to hear you found it disappointing. This was a national trail across 28 Forestry Commission sites and we will make sure to pass your feedback onto the team that coordinated this. Could you possibly email us with the details of where you found the information about parking charges?... More

We went for a relaxing walk in the arboretum only to find the place stuffed full of over indulged dogs and screaming kids. The dogs were running off their leads and there were literally 100's of them. I like dogs but my wife has been attacked by some a few years ago and is now, quite naturally, uneasy around them... Hi Andy, Thanks very much for getting in touch and letting us know your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience. We do cater for families here and we are especially busy during the school holidays with families enjoying a day outdoors. Although Silk Wood is a dog friendly area of the arboretum, the... More

Enjoyed a relaxing Saturday afternoon out in the winter sunshine with the children jumping in muddy puddles and finding clues to find the Gruffalo and his friends. Though it was a bit disappointing that many of the clues led to cut outs of the characters, we enjoyed the experience and look forward to returning very soon.

There are two separate walks - one where dogs are allowed and one where they are not. Excellent idea. We walked both walks and it was lovely to see the structure of the arboretum with the leaves off the trees. Very good value for money.
