Just returned from Westonbirt Arboretum Jan 25th where we took our 5yr old and 2yr old twins, fantastic place to allow them to run around and get some fresh air, but was a bit disappointed by the Gruffalo trail, it was a weak attempt at trying to recreat the story, which is what is advertised or expected by the children.... Decided a return visit to The Arboretum was needed as exercise was required after the night before....... Things had changed greatly since my last visit. The car park is now expansive and was already busy when I arrived at 1000. A purpose built ticket/visitor centre greets you as you leave the car and walk down to the start of the... More

We were staying at Thornbury Castle and found this place to visit. This is a serious collection of trees that looked beautiful in Autumn. Unfortunately there had been a lot of rain and the ground was quite boggy but it was lovely to walk around and get some great photos. It was large and sprawling and to do it all... More

Save your money and spend some quality time in some of England's FREE forests. We visited on a Sunday in the middle of January thinking it would be quiet and a pleasant place to walk. All I can say is if you have half a dozen screaming kids on bikes or dogs (not on bikes!) and money to burn it... More

Beautiful place in the autumn, with leaves turning all shades of red, brown and yellow. It can get a bit muddy though, so make sure you take your wellies.

£5 per adult entrance fee was fair price to pay, however £8 for a coke, bottle of water & ham & onion sandwich seemed a little steep, however we enjoyed our walk and found the gruffalo!!!

Very pleasant to stroll around. Not many leaves on the trees at this time of year, but admission fees were lower.
