I visited with a dog. Dogs were allowed in the Silkwood area, and it seemed to be a favourite place for locals to walk their dogs. Most were off a lead. This lead to quite a few problems as my dog does not yet have recall and therefore was on a lead. Several times she was subject to unwanted attention by... More

Ok, so it was a little expensive for the two of us to just take the dog for a walk but the woods here really are beautiful and there is plenty of information on the plants, some of which I would not have had a clue on if it hadn't have been there. Could only take the dog around one... More

What a fabulous place! Although it was a bank holiday weekend during half term, the arboretum is big enough to absorb families and everyone else, without it feeling crowded and noisy. We spent a couple of really enjoyable hours walking around the well marked footpaths, surrounded by trees. It was so tranquil, you could hear the wind through the trees.... More

mostly for my benefit, we visited the arboretum on a weekend away to the Cotswolds, as it was moments away from our hotel. I had pre-booked a mobility scooter (no charge) for my elderly mother, without which she wouldn't have been able to come, so it was a fantastic benefit. After a brief briefing my 90 year old mother was... More

I am local to Westonbirt so family membership is really good value as we visit at least once a week. The children love being able to explore and doing the various family trails. I love the peace and quiet of an early morning, mid week visit. The flowers and trees are stunning at this time of year. We visit both... More

I go to Westonburt Arboretum quite often to walk our dog or just to relax there always seems to be something going on there just walking among the trees is very relaxing sitting on a bench watching the birds and animals gives me time to think and after you can go and have a coffee or tea in the cafe... Visiting in late April saw the magnolia trees and rhododendrons at their best. On arrival the car park looked very full but such is the vast scale of Westonbirt the crowds were lost in the trees. It was inspirational to walk amongst the huge variety of mature trees, all very well labelled. Good to see new planting as well for... More

A nostalgic impulse drew us to Westonbirt a couple of days ago. They try hard, I think, and it's probably a great place for school field trips, but cheap it ain't: £9 each. Since Sandringham in Norfolk is free (and we are also life members of the National Trust) this seemed excessive. Not to be repeated in a hurry.

This is a national museum for trees run by the Forestry Commission. It's well laid out with two main walks taking up to a couple of hours each plus lots of side tracks to wonder down. The main paths are firm and would be OK if wet under foot. Guided walks are available a couple of times a day. Lots... More

Great walks through the woods, with both Spring and Autumn trails to see the trees and landscape at it's best. This visit we followed the spring trail (dogs allowed!) to be greeted with spring colour in both the trees and the flora. Areas of interest include country crafts and woodland management. If you like walking in the woods you will... More
