We visited the museum and factory shop first, then went to the tea-room for Scones and Jam.
100% recommend it - great service.

Lovely place to visit. Tea Room is simply wonderful, and the food was excellent. Already planning my next visit.

We did look forward to this, however the service was slow and the ham in the sandwiches was 80% fat 10% ham. You would have to know you have to know you have put that amount of fat in a sandwich, but still did! The cakes were poor standard. Had looked forward to visiting Tiptree jam factory as we like thier jams.
Thought we would have coffee on arrival as it was almost 11.30.
Be warned-the cafe is very expensive.
3 coffees-(VERY STRONG) and almost undrinkable and 3 mediocre scones with teen weeny pot of jam came to almost £20.00.
Saw other plates of food being served to customers...

My wife and I had a Sunday to ourselves and decided to visit Tiptree to sample the jams and browse in the museum. The drive from Upminster took less than an hour and we spent about two hours strolling round a very interesting museum and having lunch. My wife had the Quiche and I had the ploughmans both of which...

Both very tasty, large and the salads beautifully made and presented. Full range of salad - none of the token lettuce leaves you get elsewhere. Excellent homemade banana...

Visited the jam factory restuarant with my husband for afternoon tea. Scones were delicious but thought they were a bit stingy on the jam & clotted cream....the portions we get in Dorset & Devon are much bigger!
Museum was very interesting & worth a visit. Shop was good to walk around after but disappointed that they had sold out of...
