My wife and I discovered this hidden gem of a pub tucked away in Rye by the Castle. The menu choices were excellent and the specials board offered some local game as we discovered it was wild boar week. I had wild boar sausage and venison casserole with mashed potatoes, the meat was plentiful, tender and full of flavour. My... More

We visited this charming pub twice and both times the food was excellent. The menu uses locally sourced ingredients and the presentation is perfect. Great service, friendly and efficient staff along with a lovely bar area and garden with views make this pub a must on your visit to Rye. Prices are good too!!

The pub itself was basic and had good drinks. However when we had our drinks in the large garden it was almost full with at least 6 children screaming and running around. As I do believe children can be brought to a pub, I believe they should behave as in all other places. At some point we decided to go... More

We ate here on a quiet evening, or a quiet hour in a busy evening! The Soup was very hot and very good. We did not want a very heavy main course, so we ordered a platter of cold meats with pickle, for two. Naively we expected some ham and tongue, perhaps a slice of cold beef. Instead, all the... More

We had 2 separate lunches here on this visit, both excellent and good value for money. We decided to eat inside being August, the better halves not enjoying the company of flying insects with their lunch but they have an extensive area outside in the garden as well. A good choice of beers as well.

If you're looking for friendly service and unpretentious, tasty pub food, the Ypres Castle Inn is just right. Recommended for families, it's also situated halfway down the steps below Ypres Tower, right next to the canons, which adds to the fun for children.

Popped in for dinner. Made reservation despite being one of 3 tables booked! Food was nice but big portions. Good selection of ales and a nice beer garden for nice weather. Couldn't complain about the service which was friendly and efficient.

Whether you want a quick pint or a lunch, the Ypres is a great place to visit.....when we are in Rye we always call in because of it being very dog friendly , staff are always great and the food and drink doesn't disappoint, one of the best fish and chips in Rye, We will be back again soon.
