I visited St Leonard's Church whilst holidaying in the area. It is in a beautiful setting, but best of all was the warm and friendly welcome from the Vicar and the church family. I had the pleasure of attending a morning service. There was a warm welcome for me and my small dog. I throughly enjoyed the service, with traditional... More

This picturesque church in a small wood is difficult to find and is at the end of a what looks like school road. This little hidden enclave is surrounded by woods and generations of Hastings graves. Another place to escape the hustle and bustle of Hastings

If you want a peaceful walk through woods and visit a beautiful church, then this is the place to go. On a warm summer afternoon it's the most perfect place to be. The church is really old but it is not always open, but be sure to visit if 9you get the chance.

We returned to the Church in the Wood to retrace my Fathers early years and to visit the grave of his parents. I had arranged to meet the Reverend after their Sunday service. We were met with such affection and welcoming and spent time with members of the congregation over a cuppa. We were helped to the grave which had... More

Love this place. Was christened here, been to some beautiful midnight masses here at Cmas. Dad's ashes are here. About to lay mum's ashes here. Got married here. The lovely lych gate entrance to the grounds, the old tombs and graves, the beautiful setting. Such a serene place to be. Wonderful place to get away from it all.

Really romantic, fairytale like surroundings. Check church opening times if you want to get in as it's often closed.

East Sussex boasts some very fine churches. This one is something special as it was less than 40 years ago it was totally surrounded by woods and didn't enjoy such luxuries as electricity. Times have changed and there are now developments rather closer than I would wish - but the church remains special and worth a visit. Oh, and I... More

One of the oldest building in Hastings (dating back the the 1200s). Though it is a small church, its secluded location surrounded by woodland gives it a romantic fairytale quality. It is well worth combining the visit with a walk around Church wood/Robsack wood
