On a clear day this must be the route to the best views of Hastings and The Channel. Although the journey is very quickly over the views as the "cars" ascend and descend change all the time. At the top is a large park with plenty seating and space for picnics.

Not the cheapest at £2.50 each but so much fun! A real must do while in Hastings. Great views from the top. Try to sit at the front or the back a d watch where you are going/been its well worth the trip! Take a camera for the views at the top.

A "different" historic experience that led to a peaceful cliff-top grassed area, with stunning views of Hastings, and a delightful cafe, that served a fine array of snacks hot and cold.

Going on the eastern train may have been an experience as it has an amazing view, I stupidly went on the western one though, which is 70% tunnel. You get a return ticket in the price, its not clear if you can use this on the eastern one or not though, and its a long trek there to take the... More

The concept of getting a train to go up the side of a steep hill is always appealing and this funicular ticks all the boxes. Small barrier to squeeze through to get to the car with small seats. You peer to the sky thinking "Will the rope snap?" "Will this rickety thing make it to the top?" 1. It doesn't... More

A great way to go up the two hills. If you have to chose one take the East Hill one as it is steeper and it takes you to the country park. The West Hill takes you to Hastings Castle and Smugglers Adventure. Different opening times throughout the year. Dogs are allowed in the carriage. Staff very helpful.

Possibly the most expensive journey in the UK when you take into consideration £ per metre but you absolutely must do it. The East lift goes up the cliff to the Country Park, the West lift through the rock to the Castle - if you can only do one of them make it the East lift - you get a... More

This is a must do if visiting Hastings. It's a great old cliff railway that takes you up to a beautiful park. The fare is a return fare.

Use both of the railways to get a real view of Hastings from East Hill and West Hill. A great piece of Victorian engineering. Please remember that they close at 5.30pm.
