The east hill railway is actually quite good. I thought it would be naff, just for dorks and oldies, but i can honestly say it was exciting waiting to depart. There was only me and my girlfriend on the way up, and the biggest disappointment was the length of the ride. I would advise against attempting any kind of courtship... More

For £2.50 return this was a real treat to ride the heritage cliff railway. It wasn't clear at the bottom that it was a return, but was at the top. Staff were friendly and helpful. The West Cliff is open this time of year but the East Cliff is still closed. The west cliff goes through a tunnel in the... More

You really can't go to Hastings and not do the cliff railways - they're a fantastic piece of heritage and great fun (and good value) to ride. We've only ever managed to do the West Hill (the East Hill has much more limited opening times in winter). From the top you can visit the café (which is ok-ish), enjoy the... More

The East Hill lift is a good (if lazy) way to get a great view over Hastings or for a walk over the country park . A nice place to take visitors to Hastings. It's fantastic that this piece of seaside history has been preserved.

Short ride up the hill, but unique. A steep climb up the hill - and a little pricey for the family TBH, but worth it to NOT walk up! Stunning views of the coast at the top of the hill.

There are two cliff railways in Hasting, the East and the West lifts. The East is not open in the Winter and has the best views when traveling in it. The West lift takes passengers up to the Smugglers Adventure caves and the East takes you to Hastings Country Park.

If you love British history, you'll love the cliff railway in Hastings. the views from the top of the cliffs are great and the experience itself will transport you back to a time long forgotten. I always enjoy it, so go on take a ride!!
