A maze of fabulous shops and cafes

Lovely interesting shops - jewellers and more plus lots of cafes and restaurants - could spend hours in there!

away from brighton sea front are the lanes,a winding maze of narrow cobbled walkways that twist and turn.it feels like youve stepped back to victorian london, age old inns and pubs line the streets.the atmosphere is curiously a mix of wonder for the tourist and a nice familiarity for the locals.small curiosity shops along with stunning jewellery and the awesome choccywoccydooodah... The lanes had some really great home and clothes stores to check out! A really quirky nice area to walk around

Have heard so much about how good this place is to brose over the years that it came as a major disappointment. Every shop appeared to be a jewellers (which is fine if you are looking for a ring et al) or pretty downmarket retro or tourist tat shops. There is not the feel for quality or variety as I... More

There are more than enough shops to cater for anyone's taste. Some are more upmarket and therefore more expensive than others. I like going back to the same shops whenever I am in Brighton (a couple of times per year). The vintage shops are great for finding little curiosities and interesting historical things. Well worth a walk around just to... More

Rambling the Lanes on a sunny day, window shopping or buying, is a delight. I loved the little independent boutiques and cafes, such a nice change from big chain stores.

If you're in Brighton these are simply a must. There really is no place like it. The non high street names and alternative vibe is fantastic. You can quite easily spend two full days experiencing each and every corner. Cash not necessary for most places.

For those of you who have been to York these narrow lanes and closely packed shops are a little similar. There are plenty of places to eat and there is a very good jewellery section. Worth a wander.

A visit to Brighton is incomplete without a visit to the Lanes. The Lanes are small streets, like a Labyrinth, with some amazing shops selling unique gifts and eatables, In fact you can do all your Christmas or Birthday shopping here. Beautiful small shops and the owners are really nice and friendly and go that extra mile for you.
