If you're visiting Brighton do NOT miss the North Laines. This is quite different in feel to the rest of Brighton. Much more laidback, hippyish, tatooed, bearded, ringed, although the area is gentrifying quickly. Great place to come when it is sunny on the weekend to have brunch outside and wander around. Lots of fun stores to browse, cafes, restaurants.... More

A great shopping and dining experience in this colourful and bohemian quarter with unique, unusual shops and restaurants all colourfully decorated with traditional colours, wall paintings or graffiti. A great and trendy place to spend a morning or afternoon, browsing, shopping, snacking or taking pictures. Highly recommended.

We took a walk down the lane window shopping. There is a lot of choice and competition the lane is quite long, you can get to the train station from the far end. There are a number of very popular bars for young people along the way, they were full and people were spilling into the lane, they were all... More

My favourite spot in Brighton. Great cafes, fabulous shops. Could spend a day slowly meandering down the busy streets.

I had a stroll around the smart-looking shops although most were selling art and craft type things that seemed very expensive. The roads are quite narrow and it is nice to get away from the traffic. A bit different from the usual shopping centres.

Good for people watching and the purchase of something different. Some nice cafés with a mix of decent food, relatively cheap.

If you like lots of little independent shops with bags of character selling goods you cannot find anywhere else then this is the place for you. We might come back here to do our Christmas shopping. It certainly beats the soulless shopping malls with their ubiquitous corporate brands.

An eclectic mix of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Alternative lifestyles are well represented but there is something for everyone - especially if your tastes are a bit unconventional. In an age of identikit high streets, where you could be anywhere, hallelujah for a place like this that could only be in Brighton!
