Whenever I am looking for a present that's a little out of the ordinary, I know where to look: the North Laine. It has so much to offer in such a small space. I love escaping Morrissons and Topshop in here, where I can find independant shops that sell almost anything, from comic books to vintage clothes, and what helps... More

It is different...not just the shops but the bars and restaurants too. There is lots of inspired graffiti which adds to the character of the area

If you think all British towns, with their dreary chain stores, are the same then come to North Laine, Brighton and just soak up the incredible atmosphere. There are a huge variety of small independent shops, cafes, bars, etc. A great place for books, records, clothes, gifts with none of the tackiness you associate with tourist towns. Good selection of independent shops and cafes. Similar to Camden Market in London. Worth spending an hour here or so.

We loved it... The car park was really expensive, but still we spend a few hours on the laines... Cool graffitis and great stores... We ended up having lunch through the streets... Well worth a visit!

Whenever I am in town I always head straight to the North Laines, the atmosphere of individual shops, from 'Veggie Shoes' to the quirky restaurants and retro junk shops, great vibe. On Saturday I went in an interesting cafe for lunch called Silo, local, organic, no carbon foot print, made the menu interesting.

Well worth a wander- into the jewellery sector, or into the narrow alleys containing bijou shops and eating houses.

Great shops, lots of lovely places to eat too, watch for the shops that are hidden in the 'side streets', you can easily spend 3-4 hours there with the Laines close by too, recommended!!

Great little boutique shops- good for finding something different for a gift. Places to stop for lunch or a coffee too.

The north lanes are the best you must go off on to the side roads loads to look at very good for wandering around. There is off one of the side streets a brilliant coffee house where all of the food is organically grown and every thing home made. Tables and chairs etc very different.
