Kemp town does offer the gay community pubs, bars and clubs which are aimed specially at the gay community and that advocate being gay friendly more openly than other places in Brighton. This can mostly be seen... More

Some cool looking bars, cafes and restaurants Some parts of Kemp Town are a bit scruffy and less than salubrious. But I felt safe walking out on my own at night.

Good selection of Boutique hotels and guest houses (you'll need to book in advance though). Where to go for antiques and curios.

Evidence of a real homelessness problem. Sleeping bags and belongings on streets and benches. Number of people drinking in public, cheap cans of cider. Quite intimidating at times.

To drive through Kemptown would hardly warrant a snatched view out of the side window. But park up - if you can - and take a leisurely stroll around all the sideroads and you will find many interesting mews, small and interesting shops. Perhaps call in at Marmalade for a super lunch or snack. In our view, well worth a... More

Quirky and Queer. Colourful and full of people, especially during Pride. Don't go there if you're not after unconventional fun, hipstery places and people from all nationalities, religions, sexualites, cultures and ideals!

Great area, really just a street that runs between Brighton and the Marina a couple of streets back from the sea front. It's perfect for getting away from the Brighton touristy area and crowds. Loads of pubs on the street and little shops selling bric a brad.
