It is a must for the views you have. The atmosphere is decadent, lacks updated. Work began on the Palace Pier in 1891, the inaugural ceremony for laying of the first pile was held on 7 November 1891, overseen by Mayor Samuel Henry Soper. The pier opened in May 1899

Enjoyed the stroll along the beach to the pier, and the walk along the length of the pier too, a very good structure with plenty of things to do wether young or old, couldn't find anywhere to look of the end of the pier though which was a little disappointing, even though I wasn't going to put too much effort... Iconic Brighton/British landmark Been visiting for 50 years. Brighton is personified by the Palace Pier (now called the Brighton Pier). Some may say a bit 'tatty' and crass - it's free(!!), gotta give it a go!!

As others have said, it's the heritage that makes this stand out. The history is explained well, there is some magnificent Victorian decor, and a seaside pier needs a whelk stall, fish and chips, and a bar. Replace the tacky slot machines with a variety theatre and the experience would be complete.

So happy that this grand old dame has survived when so many of our piers have been taken by fire or the sea. Went on the haunted ghost tour ride which hasn't changed for years and is so retro and so much fun. Just lovely to see people of all ages enjoying the pier as we have done for so... More

Forget the slot machines and the rides - look up at the stained glass and the stunning ceilings! So full of character.

I am a great lover of the great british pier and ever since Carry on at your Convenience Brighton Pier is one of my favourites. It still has everything one wants - amusements, fish and chips, candy floss, seafood, a bar and tacky gift shops - and is long enough for a pleasant stroll. Also there is free entry and... More
