lovely theatre small copy of one in Milan so I'm told. very comfortable heat, seats a bit hard, only three lady's loos, so a rush to get there. But great shows and nice atmosphere to the old building.

A lovely attractive theatre. Reasonably comfy seats. Nice bars, although typically a bit overpriced on the drinks. A wonderful night watching Woman in Black which was a fantastic play.

A diverse range of shows and productions come to the theatre - saw a National Theatre production and was impressed with how well it was staged on a relatively narrow stage. Due to the design of the theatre there are a significant number of seats with some restrictions in viewing. Be aware and use the helpful booking information to help... More

We were visiting from out of town and pre-booked VIP tickets for Twelfth Night without really knowing what the 'VIP' bit gave us! I was disappointed to not be able to contact the box office before our visit to ask for more information (as it is part of a national booking system) but we collected the tickets the day before... We came to see One Man Two Guvnors, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a lovely, traditional theatre near the centre of town - Grade 2 listed and founded over 200 years ago. With about 950 seats over four levels, and with boxes at the sides, it is cosy and intimate, the acoustics are good, and you feel close to... More

As a first time visitor to the theatre I asked for seating advice from lady at the box office. She recommended buying tickets in row D of the gallery as the view in the first row is partially obscured by a brass safety rail. However, we still couldn't see anything from our row because theatregoers in the first row lent... More

Visited Theatre Royal earlier this week to see the Full Monty. My review is more about the seating than the show as Full Monty is only on for a week (that said I thoroughly enjoyed the performance). The only seats available at the time of my booking that had an unrestricted view were Second Circle so quite high up, seats... More

A lovely old theatre which I first visited many years ago and, to the untrained eye, appears to be virtually unchanged. Helpful, friendly staff and a full theatre for a Shakespeare production. In the dress circle, we were particularly impressed in the efficient way a delayed 50 plus school party that arrived ten minutes late were ushered into their seats... More
