Visited in august absolutely stunning place, sun was out and weather was beautiful. Smell of the freshly cut grass by the very handsome young man made it a perfect summers day. Could do with a little cafe/shop to stop and eat. Highly recommended especially just to see the young man who was on the lawn mower :)

I was staying in Aldeburgh (Business and Leisure) and went to visit the Abbey on a Tuesday morning. I had the whole place to myself!. it is very impressive, atmospheric even. If you are looking for interactive displays and gift shops, this is not for you. Just a nice, calm, historic building for you to wander around at your leisure.... More

Visited the ruins by day earlier this week and our kids thought, what a fantastic place for Halloween. Absolutely stunning by day with lots of interesting facts to learn about it's history. Went along at dusk on 31st Oct with the kids dressed up and we were spooking them around all the dark corners. The lure of trick or trick... More

We found this old abbey by chance when seeking a quiet spot for our picnic lunch. It is down a lengthy spur lane off the main road from Aldburgh. There is good car parking and a nice grassy area for sitting.. The abbey is a ruin, as most after Henry 8th. The remaining walls and arches are impressive against a... More

Due to a road closure we were passing and called in. Not really a lot to see. There may be more interest on one of the occasions when the music school who occupy the barn have a concert. With Orford and Framlingham castles nearby it seems a rather poor relation. Signage adequate. No facilities, seems to be a shop but is... More

I'm a seventeen year old girl and I absolutely loved it here! I came here while on a camping holiday with my parents. After first visiting Dawich ruins this really made my day. I thought it looked amazing from the road but as we pulled up and walked into the main part, it literally took my breath away. Though the,... More

I visited Leiston Abbey after it was recommended by a friend. I was so glad that I had as the ruins are really wonderful and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon exploring them. However, it’s a self-guiding site, and the lack of signage really annoyed me. The signs that were there were very informative, but there just weren’t enough of... More

Well worth a stop if you are in the area. There are a enough of the ruins remaining to give you a real sense of what it might have been like in its prime before the reformation. There is something about being able to explore for yourself and make unexpected discoveries.

We stumbled across Leiston Abbey when driving from Westleton to Aldeburgh as I spotted the ruins from the road and decided to check it out. Free parking and no entrance fees was a nice surprise, also the dog was allowed to explore the ruins with us as long as he was kept on a lead. Beautiful ruins which we really... More
