I decided to visit Beamish on my way south from Edinburgh. My GPS guided me to it, because I did not see even one road sign! It is in a very rural location. At £16 I thought it was somewhat overpriced, but there is a lot to see there. You really need a full day (they open at 10am in... more

Went here in the half term week and was surprised that the price was only £5 per adult. (Normally £6). There has been the addition of a few new things since I was here last time about 4 years or so ago. They are still investing money what is always good to see. Overall a very good value day out... more

I love Beamish. I have been so many times. It's a little pricey, but you see why you pay the price when you get there (in the summer especially). You require a full day in Beamish to appreciate it all. The attractions are great. They include tram rides, going down a mine, old town centre, farm, farmhouses and visiting Edwardian... more

This has to be one of the best working museums in the country !! Beamish open air museum is a great day out for all the family . they have recreated a whole village from the 1920's where you can see what it was like to live , shop and travel during this period on working trams , and buses... more

Read some of the reviews above and just seem that people are looking for a boring museum where you stand and look at things. This is so different this is a working, moving and living museum and very much unlike any others. I own an annual pass and return on a very regular basis, I'm not too lazy to walk... more

I have visited the Museum since I was tiny and there is something magical about the place. The people who work there are very helpful and thats the way the Museum works. If you talk to the demonstrators or tram drivers they usually cheer up your day no matter what the weather, putting the world to rights and reminiscing about... more

Arrived at Beamish having followed the clear and Easy signs from the A1 didn't need the sat nav. The price of £32.00 for 2 adults to me was a bit over price but having said that we used some Clubcard deals so it only cost a £1 each to get in the place. We gained entry without too much waiting.... more

Visited the open air museum at Beamish & the nostalgia was wonderful. The 1913 town was a real treat and many memories of things I had not seen since the 1950s & early 1960s came flooding back. The staff were very helpful and they were all dressed in period costume. The Colliery village is also set in 1913 & the... more

Arrived here in pouring rain & asked car park attendant if it was worth a vist. At first he said "No" then changed his mind & said to go & see someone inside. We did & was told there was plenty of shelter & anyway the rain was clearing up by 11am. Well it not only rained all day but... more

I visited Beamish Open Air Museum in May 2007 so luckily it was fairly quiet - I would imagine at times it can be manic! The museum is not too bad although I would say very expensive for what is there. The whole museum is spread out and you can travel from each section on one of the trams and... more
