We were bowled over by our visit to this beautiful place. The castle itself is full of amazing art and interesting artefacts. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable and the walks around the lake are tranquil. Super tea room too!

Had a lovely time at Sherborne castle. The kids (3&5) were given an activity sheet to complete so they were kept entertained going around as well. Lots of information and a knowledgable guide in each room. The grounds were beautiful and we had a lovely walk around them. Would definetely recommend a visit.

Sherborne castle is a lovely place for a walk around in the summer. The grass on the banks of the lake makes an ideal spot for a picnic. Didn't visit the castle itself, but it looked quite modern. However there is an older castle (ruin) on the other side of the lake which would make a great walk. Circular walk... More

Ok it was raining so the outside walks in the grounds were not an option. The house stroke castle was ok but more of a stately home than a castle. My view of a castle is like Arundle. It would have been nice to seen more of the cellars and darker areas. Staff were chatty and helpful. On a nicer... More

This stately home is still owned by the historic Digby family, who expanded the house into a castle design in the 1620's. The original house was built for Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594. We very much enjoyed looking round the castle and walking around the beautifully kept grounds and lake, despite the fact it was raining when we went. The... More

This is not a castle but a very fine example of a family residence dating back to Sir Walter Raleigh. The house is very well presented with some very fine pieces of furniture and paintings. Each room has a very helpful guide for a detailed explanation of every room. We were lucky as it was a glorious day to walk... More

Our visit to Sherborne Castle was very enjoyable .we were pleased that our dog was welcome to sit at the outside tables of the tearoom. The food was well prepared and satisfying. The walks along the lakeside give great photo opportunities as well as a relaxing way of enjoying there castle from afar.

Pleasant walk around the lake and a nice cup of tea. Staff n the shop were lovely. I think this is expensive for what you get. A short walk around the lake ( under an hour) for £6 each. No reduction for seniors. So much lovely countryside around for free. Very pretty but too much

Thank you for your review. There are additional circular walks available to the east and shorter walks around the Orangery, to the lake pier taking in the herbaceous borders. If you go at a pretty fast pace about 3 hours of walks are available. More
