After reading the reviews, I wasn't sure if this was worth visiting. We took a (nearly) three year old and a nine year old. I warned the nine year old that it might not be very good and that it was in a small house. I think I based my decision to go on believing people when they said, 'you... More

I spent good money on a family ticket 2 adults 2 children and paid to visit the five museums. I queued outside in the rain only to get inside to find the place packed with people and it was just like a big house with dinosaurs inside that didn't look like it had been updated since the 70s! In fact... More

Although a small museum, it was excellently arranged and presented. The dinosaur models (life size) caused excited cries from the grand children and made fantastic photo opportunities. There were information posters about all displays and there was a trail sheet for children to use to enhance their knowledge of the exhibits.

We visited expecting to see the dinosaur museum promised by the tourist leaflet .As soon as we arrived we realized this would be on a much smaller scale. There were queues down the street to get into the museum it was that small Inside there were lots of pictures and information written up on the wall and just a few small... The museum was VERY busy when we visited & it was difficult to relax & enjoy it. The displays were informative but small. Dinos looked good and there are some real treasures to be found. Going to try again another day

We queued to get in , in the rain. Some of the rooms were small and overcrowded . They are not wheel chair friendly. There was a gentleman behind us in a wheel chair with a carer and they were told they couldn't help him as they were really too busy !! There were some very interesting facts and hands... More

Very informative but a little too expensive. It felt more like someone's private collection rather than a museum.

I took my 10, 8 and 6 year olds. Perfect for the eldest as he loved reading everything. Shame there wasn't somewhere to have a coffee or some lunch as we could have then made the visit last a bit longer.

Three of us visited and we were allowed to take our 2 dogs as it was quiet (they made another £20 out of us including the £7 or so admission price and the shop). It was interesting and the fossil collection was good. Took around 45 minutes to go round. If you plan in visiting several museums in Dorchester go... More

This is a great little museum, that engages the love of dinosaurs that most small children have, with some "proper" information and history- no dumbing down, which I found refreshing. As it is rather small, it can get chaotic, but buggies are mainly left in one area (there are a couple of rooms upstairs).
