This museum has got some very unfair reviews. Yes it's small, no it can't compete with London's Natural history museum (how many places can??) but its informative, interesting and you can take photos inside - unlike lots of other local attractions. If the cost is offputting - go to goldsaverpass.com and get a ticket for all 5 local attractions for... More

Preceded by a £13 for 3 Wetherspoon lunch we had a great time roaming around this place. It will leave adults and teenagers bored probably but for 3 year olds seeing massive plastic dinosaurs made their faces light up. Another review mentioned baby buggy. You will need to carry babies upstairs but there is space to leave the buggy. Lots... More

Don't go here expecting anything too flash. It is advertised like its a huge attraction, it's great value for money and educational with some fun bits for kids, but small and quite simple. You probably couldn't spend much longer than an hour here.

If I had taken any notice of some of the negative reviews posted, I would never have visited the museum and my seven year old twin grandsons would have missed a real treat. The museum may not be for the "fossil experts" but for two seven year olds with a great imagination it was heaven. Both boys love dinosaurs, so... More

I had good memories of this museum from visiting as a child, and decided to return as it was pouring down outside. I wish I hadn't bothered. £14 for 2 adults and it took all of 10 minutes to go around. The displays were simplistic and aimed at young children, so why not just advertise it as a childrens' attraction?... More

We made a day of visiting Dorchester and covered all 5 museums the same day. This we felt was the best value for money and kept the kids amused. I knew this wasn't going to be like the Natural History Museum in London (on our list to do!) as it was going to be in a much smaller location. My... More

We went last August and my 5 year old daughter loved it, surprised by the negative reviews, maybe you need a 5 year old with you when you visit. If she is happy we are happy. There was lots for her to do

Every review here is right in their own way. I would have been pretty annoyed if I'd come here without reading these reviews and was expecting something like The Natural History Museum in London. And yes, it's pricey. We went on a rainy day with very young kids and it helped us kill 40mins. It feels like a school show... More
