Described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment, or smaller works, the sculptures of Simon Gudgeon are perfectly placed in the delicately nurtured natural landscape to visually enhance their surroundings. The effect is a balance, a harmony of form and context where the experience is central. Without walls, without interpretation, each person can engage with the art and the ever-changing environment. « less

We visited Pallington Lakes with my brother and sister-in-law and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The sculptures were situated in and around the lakes giving wonderful reflections in the water - a photographers paradise! Tables and chairs strategically placed for your comfort whilst enjoying your picnic and the peaceful atmosphere. A very friendly and wonderful place to visit.

With attendance limited to 40 visitors a day, booked in advance, Sculpture by the Lakes provides a peaceful walk around the beautifully planted lakesides, encountering more than 30 stunning sculptures of great diversity on the way. Although there is no catering facility on site, there are numerous picnic benches with lovely views of the lakes, sculptures and the River Frome.... More

A friend of mine and I booked our visit for the and of August. The weather was rather dull but we thought that the whole experience was perfect even without the sun. We loved the way the whole area maintained it's natural look whilst being kept tidy and the placing of the sculptures around the lake was perfect. The sculptures... More

I have visited Sculpture by the Lakes 5 times to date. Everyone I take there loves it and want to return themselves . It is a unique place of beauty and tranquility. Picnic and seating areas are beautifully appointed and each time I sit somewhere different and get a different perspective on the lakes. Will be back again soon.

I cannot praise this venue enough. If you want peaceful, uplifting inspiration then visit. Restricted numbers means space and time to wander and see things. No pressure to rush or move on. We felt catered for but still left to our own devices. The setting was amazing and the sculptures moving and thought provoking. Best twenty pounds we have spent... More

I was on a holiday in Bournemouth and was looking for somewhere to propose to my then girlfriend (now fiancee). I came across this place after much searching, and as soon as I saw the website and the photos on there I knew it was the right place. The booking online was pain free. I loved that the numbers into... More

We spent a lovely few hours there. Very quiet and peaceful as visitor numbers are restricted. The sculptures are great and there's plenty of seats around the lakes to stop and take in the views.

Having lived in Swanage for more than 25 years, we came across the advert for the beautiful park in the magazine "Garden in Dorset". We had a very enjoyable afternoon looking at all the artworks in the enchanting surrounding. We look forward to our next visit.
