We are now open every day from 11am to 5pm. Entry is £10 per person. Entry to the Gallery is free. Due to deep water no children under 14 years of age. No dogs. Described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment, or smaller works, the sculptures of Simon Gudgeon are perfectly placed in the delicately nurtured natural landscape to visually enhance their surroundings. The effect is a balance, a harmony of form and context where the experience is central. Without walls, without interpretation, each person can engage with the art and the ever-changing environment.

We spent a couple of hours here taking pictures and enjoying the peace and quiet. The only draw back were the power lines in the pictures, but no-one can help that. there were plenty of places to sit and relax but no refreshments only ice cream. We had brought a picnic and ate by the river and took in the... More

This is a beautiful tranquil place to visit. Great thought has been put into the siting of the magnificent sculptures and the wonderful collection of plants. Take your time, take a picnic and spend a day here wandering at your leisure and discover all the peaceful spots to just sit or recline, and reflect on the beauty of it all.

Weather perfect, still waters apart from the free flowing river. You can spend all day enjoying this tranquility. Be aware if you have mobility problems there is a lot of walking but take your time, enjoy the experience and avail yourselves of the many unique seating areas.

A well set out park with some wonderful pieces and lots of little spots to sit and ponder the art and/or the natural surroundings. No under 14s are allowed due to the deep lakes, but for me this was a bonus as it meant the park could be enjoyed in tranquility!

The place was beautiful in a natural way and the sculptures served to add meaning to the landscape without obstructing. My friends and I spent our time here just slowly wandering around the place and it was lovely and tranquil. Totally worth the entrance fee. Would definitely recommend this place (though I'd suggest driving there or taking a cab). We... More

The sun was shining and reflecting the images of the Sculptures by the Lakes in the water of the lakes. An idyllic setting to enjoy the contemporary sculptures in peace and tranquillity. There is on-going work on the plantings around the lake and the more formal garden adjacent to the artist's house. Everything is thoughtfully and tastefully designed. There was... More

We found the setting and siting of each sculpture inspirational and felt the same about the garden planting projects. We would recommend that you take a picnic to enjoy by the lakes.

Delightful setting - thoughtfully laid out with interesting planting setting off the sculptures to their best. Do consider the £10. per person entrance, compared with charges for other comparable gardens and grounds, is rather on the high side; especially as on our visit the galleries were closed. No return ticket offered to visit another day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review Sculpture by the Lakes. We take all the comments raised by our visitors very seriously. We currently only have one gallery in use at this time and it was unfortunate that this was closed during your visit last week. This was due to a change over of artwork by Simon... More

The Island pavilion at Sculpture by the lakes is a jewel set in the wonderful natural Dorset countryside. The ever changing views as the sun and wind played upon the water were so relaxing that we snuggled into the bright comfortable sofas, warmed by a little wood burner and instantly reached mid-holiday relaxation. Add to this the beauty of exciting... More
