Owner description: During our Winter Opening months (1st October to 30 March) entry fee to the Sculpture Park is £5 per person and no need to book. Entry to the Galleries is free. Due to deep water no children under 14 years of age. No dogs. Described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment, or smaller works, the sculptures of Simon Gudgeon are perfectly placed in the delicately nurtured natural landscape to visually enhance their surroundings. The effect is a balance, a harmony of form and context where the experience is central. Without walls, without interpretation, each person can engage with the art and the ever-changing environment.

Sculpture by the lakes is a lovely place. It is so peaceful. Although a quiet time of year when we went, I like the idea that they restrict numbers so it stays peaceful. They don't allow under 14's due to the risks of falling in the water but to be honest I don't really think it is for kids anyway.... More

This is a nice place. Very open to the elements so if you are allergic to the rain, make sure you go on a dry day. We had a big problem finding it. This is despite printing the place out on a map before we left, taking my sat nav and also my mobile phone (extra sat nav!). Plus I... More

Lives up to its top rating. We spent just over an hour wandering around with some friends looking at some very impressive sculptures in a very rural, lake setting. Sculptures are very interesting, get your attention and are well presented. For £5 a head, it was a bargain

We visited Sculptures by the Lake in June. It is beautiful, peaceful and takes you back in time. You must take a picnic if you visit. If you are lucky you will be welcomed by the owner. We will visit again.

Had a wonderful afternoon in the winters sun wandering around. Some lovely pieces in the settings sculptures should be seen in. Beautiful setting and worthy of a trip any day of the year, rain or shine. Highly recommend.

Having visited this amazing place last summer it was lovely to see it in the winter months with the leaves off the trees & the sculptures beautifully defined by the bright winter sun. A personal welcome by one of the staff sets one up for a wonderful couple of hours wandering all over the beautifully landscaped site . The tranquillity... More
