Owner description: During our Winter Opening months (1st October to 30 March) entry fee to the Sculpture Park is £5 per person and no need to book. Entry to the Galleries is free. Due to deep water no children under 14 years of age. No dogs. Described as one of the most beautiful and unique sculpture parks in the United Kingdom, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment, or smaller works, the sculptures of Simon Gudgeon are perfectly placed in the delicately nurtured natural landscape to visually enhance their surroundings. The effect is a balance, a harmony of form and context where the experience is central. Without walls, without interpretation, each person can engage with the art and the ever-changing environment.

If you like sculpture then this is an absolute must see. Stunning pieces of sceptre by Simon Gudgeon and beautifully placed around the former fish farm which is being sensitively landscaped to frame the sceptres in attractive settings. Just wish i could afford to buy them but something to aim for. The Gallery is top class and tasteful with the... More

We spent a wonderful couple of hours walking around this special place... The setting is peaceful with the noisiest thing being the buzzards circling above the trees! The sculptures are really great and the water side setting shows them to the best advantage.. Not for children.

This is the most beautiful and peaceful place. Amazing sculptures that fit in and enhance their setting. Spiritual and renewing. We visited 4 years ago in the summer and decided to return with artistic friends. The park has mellowed and the sculptures have moulded themselves into their surroundings, giving it all a restful and soothing feel. Wonderful place that is... More

Nothing special. Didn't find the place tranquil, everywhere we went there was always someone else there. The countryside was average, much nicer countryside elsewhere. I found the scultures uninspiring and not that many of them. I have been to a much nicer sculture park recently. Expensive for what it is.

We spent a fabulous 2 hours walking round the lakes and enjoying the most amazing and tactile sculptures. Even though it was the gloomiest of days, the poor light did not distract from the beauty of the the sculptures or the setting. We followed the walk with a viewing of the drawings in the gallery - again these were spectacular. We... More

We really enjoyed walking around the sculpture park and gardens. A very peaceful and beautiful place. It is relatively expensive compared to other attractions but we felt it to be worth every penny.

I saw the 'Sculpture by the Lakes' when featured on Country File and decided the next day to pay a visit. I must say I was not disappointed the sculptures are fantastic and have been displayed in the most fantastic way, and in such a wonderful setting. They do not have a cafe but areas are set aside where you... More

If you are in the Dorchester area and have time, this is a must see attraction. The sculptures are in a beautiful landscaped setting and will evoke different thoughts and feelings at different times of the year. There are numerous beautiful sculptures, strategically placed to bring out the best of each piece. You really need to book, but it is... More
