Great place to visit with dogs and children...nice to walk along the beach or path and then eat at the end then get the noddy train back or cycle both ways!

A wonderful walk around Hengistbury head takes about 1 hour with views to the Isle of White and overlooking Christchurch and Mudiford with plenty of birdlife

A truly beautiful place. Lovely scenery and walks and wonderfully quiet beaches. There is a land train to take you up to the spit where there are beach huts, a cafe and a ferry over to Mudeford Quay (well worth a visit) Something for everyone. We are lucky enough to live in the area and spend many happy hours here.... More

This is one of our favourite places to go. You have a beach, heathland, woodland and an area of SSSI. As people who love nature, this is an oasis of bird life, as well as being home to various reptiles and amphibians, along with insects galore. We're not beach people generally; but in the winter it provides an amazing backdrop... More

We love taking our dog here for the choice of walks, over the cliffs, around the sea front or Christchurch harbour. Parking is expensive, but 2 hours is ample for circular walk, or one way by small train. Queues can be long for the train & there is no priority for elderly. My dad aged 88 walked halfway & had... Hengistbury Head has something for everyone. There is history, going back before civilization as we know it was around; geography, given its location and the erosion that has caused the creation of Poole Bay and Christchurch Harbour that is evident; the wonderful beaches that are the eastern extent of Bournemouth's golden sands; the Hungry Hiker cafe serving whatever you want... Hengistbury Head is to the east of Bournemouth and away from most of the crowds. The views from the top on a clear day are amazing, stretching from the Purbecks and Swanage in the west, the iIsle of Wight and the Needles to the east and to Christchurch and Cranbourne Chase to the north. Below the head are the famous... More
