I used to visit Hengistbury Head as a kid so have happy memories of this place. It's so close to the conurbation but feels a million miles away at times. Yes, it can get busy but best to enjoy it despite that. Keep walking and really get the most out of this delightful natural place.

Easy to park, great to visit and walk. Fishing is also good especially during a storm!! there is a cafe for the weary walker, which is close to the car park and vistor centre. This can be saved for after your circular walk around the Head.

Great for walking in the fresh air! Loved the Visitor's Centre.... Modern, informative and lovely gifts to buy. Particularly like the local crafts for sale.

A knowledgeable friend explained the history and guided our walk; contrasting woodland, moorland, cliff faces and sea. Loved the colourful beach huts !!

Great views of the Isle of Wight, Hampshire coast and Dorset into the Purbecks. Lovely sandy beach and have a look at all those beach huts which cost more than houses.

Take a walk from the visitor centre to the tip of Hengistbury Head for stunning views of The Isle of Wight, and The Solent, as well as views back across to Christchurch Harbour and Mudeford.

Great place for a walk on the beach. Fantastic place to fly kites with the grandchildren (or own your own!). Great for dog walking and finding shells - and fossils if you are lucky.

Having visited Christchurch quay for lunch, we moved on to Mudeford front, where we were able to park quite easily (guess it was easier in late September) and caught a small ferry across to Hengistbury Head, with our little dog. The trip across cost £1.50 each way per adult (no returns given). Once across you are greeted by hundreds of... More

Once you have paid to park, the day is as cheap as you want it to be - there is a brand new Visitors Centre where you can get lots of information about the area and things to do. There are wonderful walks through wooded copses and eventually you end up on a wonderful sandy beach with fossils and shells... More
