A brilliant place to visit which gives a history of Hengistbury Head and is very child-friendly. Although we didn't have any children with us, there was a party of school children when we arrived and they seemed to be having great fun.

There is a huge pay car park adjacent to the golf course and the Hungry Hiker Cafe. You have the choice of three routes to the Spit once leaving the car. There is small land train which hugs the inner harbour and you can use this route for easy tarmac walking. Alternatively, you can walk over the top of the... More

January not best time to visit for fauna and flora but a must if you are nearby. Excellent visitor centre. Large car park with reasonable charge for you to have a long walk.

I go to hengistbury head all the time via the river and through the reserve. I then hit the concrete path and walk to the spit where I get the ferry to Mudeford. For a change a friend suggested we walk over the green towards the beach. We parked on the road and walked onto the grass where we were... More

A gorgeous and peaceful beach- we had a lovely Winter walk on it. It was recently voted in the top ten in the UK and we could see why.

This is a beautiful place to walk and relax. We took the ferry over from Mudeford Quay and walk around the well marked track. The views from the top of the hill are beautiful and took my breath away. The weather was kind to us in mid February which made it even more special. It is so picturesque and well... More

Hengistbury Head is a great place for a walk! You have a range of car parks, many are outrageously expensive but some are reasonable. Walk along the path and up over the head for glorious views over the sea on one side looking out to the Isle of Wight and the magnificent harbour at Christchurch and Mudeford spit on the... More

Given good weather, Hengistbury is a lovely place. Rarely crowded and of course adjacent to the sea. Lovely views of the Bay and of the Needles.
