Excellent, lovely and free with stunning views to Isle of Wight and the Jurassic coast. Please beware that during periods of lovely weather you may get carried away enjoying what nature has to offer and end up miles away from where you wanted to be with tired legs and a tiring trek to find transport back to civilisation!

Lovely walk with good views on all sides. At the end we caught the ferry over to the pub for lunch and then back again. Walked back along the beach. Very nice outing

Went for a day trip here by bus, you get the small beach train down through the forest to the beach which is a pleasant 10 minutes and only costs £1. The beach is nice although lots of seaweed/stones and dogs on beach. The beach huts are nice to look at the most expensive in the UK. Nice shop/restaurant there... More

This is a lovely spot, with beautiful views of Christchurch , the sea, the coastline and the Isle of Wight and home of the Natterjack toad. From the car park there is a good walk up and over the headland arriving at a lovely sandy ( a few stones too) beach where swimming is possible. It a lovely place for... More

We visited Hengistbury Head via the land train from Mudeford Beach. We had a walk round and ate our picnic lunch on the beach amongst the rocks admiring the views in each direction. The fairly new Visitors Centre is very good, it is also a resource centre and has interactive exhibits for children. The wild flower garden was very pretty... More

This is a great walk, which you can make into a circuit, as we do along the beach right to the end where you overlook Mudeford Quay and then back over the ancient headland. Good bracing winter walk as well as a summer stroll. Awesome views of The Needles, never tire of this beautiful place and its always quite quiet... More

What a great find .....who would have thought there would be a lovely sandy( partly) stretch of unspoilt and almost empty beach along the south coast on a hot weekend in July. Perhaps the total absence of all eating places ..(apart from the cafe at the start) and the reasonably long walk to beaches is one reason. The visitor centre... More

I find that there is not a huge deal to do, but it's a really nice spot to enjoy the beach or nature and have a nice quiet and peaceful day. Be prepared to walk a bit, and make sure it's a nice day because it might take a while to get back to the car.

Go to the Car Park near the cafe/visitor centre and head upwards to Hengistbury Head, not too hard a walk for almost anyone, and you will see the most spectacular views. Back to Poole, Bournemouth, Boscombe and then to your left Christchurch right up to the Priory and down to the small spit of sand with the most colourful row... More

Wonderful sanctuary, very nice inexpensive gift shop and lovely walks allaround. There is a lovely memorial garden that is very peaceful. We only stayed a few hours but could have spent a day
