Classic English wines are produced at Sharpham vineyard as a result of a happy marriage of soil, climate and grape variety known as terroir, and nature has bestowed her gifts freely upon us here at Sharpham. In the winery, we employ both New World and traditional techniques to best develop our unique regional characteristics. Our tally of International Awards confirms our position as one of England's foremost quality wine producers. We invite you to visit, sample, and make up your own minds about our fine English wine.

Worth a detour

I popped in here on the way down to Torquay. It was about 40 minutes out of my way, but a detour that was well worth it! The winery is down a narrow hill in the Dart Valley, and... read more

Had been recommended to go here and well worth the trek to find it! Lovely vineyard and lunch spot. We did the self guided tour which takes about 3/4 hr and then enjoyed a delicious lunch. It is a very busy place for lunch so be prepared to wait quite a while before the food arrives! I had the fish... More

(This 'average' ranking does not include our lunch at the Anchorstone Cafe, who have now set up at the restaurant here and are reviewed elsewhere). Having enjoyed free and priced wine-tastings around the world, I can understand why Sharphams needs to charge for their tastings. They are not a large producer of wine and cheese and surely cannot afford to... More

The wine... The food... The views... I have to be careful not to visit too often in case I ruin the magic. It started a few years back by going on a vineyard tour. Just lovely.

Brilliant restaurant, great food and delicious wine, with great staff who made the trip down from London totally worth it. Charlie, Ali and Tommy are particularly excellent at their job. See you next time.

Visited here last week and did the gold tour, which was a self guided tour of the vineyard and a taste of 3 wines and cheese. Excellent value for money, knowledgeable wine tasting of exceptional wines and a beautiful walk around the vineyard. Recommended wine - Pinot noir, cheese - rustic chives and garlic both delicious and also a very... More

Recommend a visit to this working wine/cheese farm. The wine selection is very good, the cheese making is interesting and the cheeses very tasty, and the food at the outdoor cafe is very delicious with interesting selections using their own and locally grown produce and seafood.

Went on a Gold Trek and Taste and it was worth every penny. A beautiful vineyard and a lovely walk round, topped off with fantastic wines and delicious cheeses at the end. Felt like we could've been in France not England!

The food was always magnificent and worthy of awards. However, since taken over by Anchorstone, the restaurant has become more like a fast food outlet. Such a disappointment.

We enjoyed a leisurely walk around the vineyard, enjoying the views of the River Dart. As part of the Gold Tour, we enjoyed wine and cheese tasting which we found very enjoyable. Our host was very friendly and gave an informative talk. We were able to buy our favourite wine from the shop. We would like to return for lunch... More
