It is one of the best buildings in the country to tell the story of 800 years of Catholicism between 1196 and 1930. A clever mix of authentic artefacts with hi-tech interpretation. From talking portraits and statues to interactive displays and one of the largest fine art collections in the South West, there really is something for everyone. Follow the garden trails or pick up a family guide or Experts' Choice to discover many hidden mysteries. With a wealth of exotic plants, the gardens are a tranquil haven of beauty and pleasure and the perfect setting in which to relax, stroll or picnic. Children can explore the garden and bring the Abbey to life using our special discovery backpacks. Browse our shop stocked with a range of souvenirs, gifts and books or sit down and enjoy a selection of drinks, snacks and light meals in the tearooms. The house, Spanish Barn and Palm House are licensed for civil weddings, partnership ceremonies and christenings. Torre Abbey can also cater for functions, corporate hospitality or training events. A varied programme of events takes place at Torre Abbey throughout the year. Tours of the house are available out of hours to groups of 30 or more. Following the recent restoration project, the Abbey now boasts a new educational suite which provides opportunities for students of all ages to get involved and explore the Abbey's history. « less

Situated on the seafront within 300 yards of the beach this wonderful jewel of English history has been tastefully restored by a refreshingly forward thinking local Authority. This is the sort of entertainment to captivate all ages and 'social' groups. It brings history to life, being able to see the evolution of the Abbey over hundreds of years under the... More

The revamped Torre Abbey combines the best interactive historical displays with a high quality art collection. The talking plates of the Lord Nelson dinner party are one of the highlights of the interactive presentations which are great for adults and children. A great way to find out about the Reformation as seen through the eyes of a dissolved Abbey. The... More

The abbey was closed so could only look around the grounds but still interesting. An old Spanish barn were prisoners were kept from the Amada. Nice gardens but will look better in the spring and summer.

Just got back from Torre Abbey after a fascinating tour from the very kind Rob Cooper. If you've yet to visit the Abbey I strongly recommend you get yourselves down there when it reopens on March 1st. I was amazed to see how much it has to offer for anyone with an interest in Art, Architecture and History- seeing Boney's... More

We visited the abbey in early in the February only to find it closed for refurbishment, as we stood out side making our minds up what to do next the heavens opened with rain and hail stones like nothing we had seen before hurrying around the side we came to the café which luckily was open serving the most appetising...
