It is one of the best buildings in the country to tell the story of 800 years of Catholicism between 1196 and 1930. A clever mix of authentic artefacts with hi-tech interpretation. From talking portraits and statues to interactive displays and one of the largest fine art collections in the South West, there really is something for everyone. Follow the garden trails or pick up a family guide or Experts' Choice to discover many hidden mysteries. With a wealth of exotic plants, the gardens are a tranquil haven of beauty and pleasure and the perfect setting in which to relax, stroll or picnic. Children can explore the garden and bring the Abbey to life using our special discovery backpacks. Browse our shop stocked with a range of souvenirs, gifts and books or sit down and enjoy a selection of drinks, snacks and light meals in the tearooms. The house, Spanish Barn and Palm House are licensed for civil weddings, partnership ceremonies and christenings. Torre Abbey can also cater for functions, corporate hospitality or training events. A varied programme of events takes place at Torre Abbey throughout the year. Tours of the house are available out of hours to groups of 30 or more. Following the recent restoration project, the Abbey now boasts a new educational suite which provides opportunities for students of all ages to get involved and explore the Abbey's history. « less

As a history nerd, I have been to a lot of museums. This is one of the best I've ever been to. The museum was lovely and had many effective modern features. The grounds and gardens were also a treat. The staff were component and very friendly . Go if possible !

The whole Abbey site has recently been under major repair and renovation. The Abbey itself is in lovely surroundings with gardens and a cafe. The original parts are fascinating, and there's loads to see. The gardens are beautiful and include beds consisting of all the poisonous plants in the Agatha Christie novels. Amazing. The cafe serves good ices, coffee, snacks and... More

We were very impressed with the refurbishment Torre Abbey had gone through. We always loved it before but now it is even more special. The history of the building and the surrounding area is given in much more detail and the interactive displays on the 3rd floor are excellent, definitely a must if you are in the area.

We visited Torre Abbey as the weather wasn't too good and it was well worth the visit. There was lots to see and the history of the Abbey was fascinating. The gardens were lovely and relaxing and it is apparent that lots of hard work goes into keeping them as lovely as they are. We've been to Torquay a few... More

Very informative history of Torbay and with some really spectacular and clever holograms. My Dad found the talking dinner plates in the dining room absolutely fascinating he was talking about them for hours! There were some fantastic original paintings on display. The gardens were special as well and topped off by a nice cafe. Great morning spent here.

Staff were fantastic, prices excellent for a family ticket (we did use our return for free, as we underestimated how long it would take and ran out of time on the car) Children loved it, lots of interactive things to keep the children entertained and plenty for adults to read alongside. Informative for all ages. Very accessible and extremely well... More

This now has something of interest for all ages. We visited as a family of 5 with ages ranging from 3 to 35 and it was interesting as we went round to see different sections of the abbey entertaining us all. I hadn't been for about 12 years and last time I went the Abbey was in need of serious... More
