Have half a day to spare whilst in Paignton? Try walking 6 miles along beach fronts, up and down hills and through woods from Paignton to Brixham along the South West Coastal Path (very well signposted). Need a bit of stamina though! In Brixham, get a cream tea to put back on the weight you just lost! And then get... More

I'm probably stating the obvious here, but go when the weather is reasonable / visibility is good. We walked from Polpeath beach to the end of Carlyon bay and back, taking in Castletown on the way It was very Misty / damp The beaches are nice, but in between there was nothing to see - felt like a bit of... There are some great walks, as short or as long as you feel like. A different walk every week or a continuation of walks. Very interesting sights to be seen on the way.

A beautiful part of the world. There's no need to go abroad when Devon is a drive away. Rugged and wild the coastal paths are areas of outstanding beauty.

My hiking buddy Bob and i began to walk the Southwest Coast Path as a challenge for the Plymouth ' love Life' campaign in 2011. Walking mainly at weekends and school holidays, we completed the 630 miles by mid-2013. Despite having taking on other hiking challenges since, we frequently return to the SWCP to redo favourite sections. We were able... More

All of it - a bit at a time of course. Does most of the population even know that such beauty exists on our coast?

We've never done any great section of the path in one go but dip in and out when we're in the area of a section. Generally there's great views from any section that you visit and you can easily do little bits or a lot depending on how long you have.

I've now walked around 450 miles of the coast path and whilst it is pretty pleasant throughout, the best bit so far has to be the stretch around the tip of Cornwall; the area around the Lizard through to St Ives is lovely, and the bit along to Newquay very nice too. If you're only able to walk one stretch... More

This is one of the stretches we have walked several times. Easy going from Dawlish Warren into Dawlish, plenty of pubs and cafes to stop at along this stretch. From Dawlish there is a steep climb over the headland. The section on to Teignmouth is more challenging before you regain the sea wall at Smugglers Cove then along into Teignmouth.... More

I didn't actually walk the part of the path at Plymouth, but hope to do so next year when I get round there. Walking on the path is a lovely experience and gives you a chance to see so many miles of beautiful coastline. It's an adventure and a mighty challenge!
