My contact with Hop Shop in Plymouth began when i decided to make wine for our family. I found that the staff were extremely helpful and delivery was fast and reasonably priced. I went on to try my hand at fruit wines and have had some very good results with the help of Peter at Hop Shop. Even when i... More

Purchased a 5 gallon homebrew barrel from this shop. When purchasing this product the sales person mentioned had problems with the 5 gallon barrels but now resolved. Went ahead and purchased the barrel cleaned sterolised and filled the barrel with fermented lager that had just finished fermenting. When priming the tap started leaking. Returned it to the Hop Shop, The... More

Sent on an errand to pick up a box of goodies as a birthday present for an old friend I was amazed at how much stock was squeezed in and so organised behind the little thirties shop front. The people who run/staff this place are so old fashioned helpful and the whole culture is homely but well outside my comfort... More

I spent a couple of hours chasing around town trying to buy or borrow a tap for a cask of real ale we had bought for a party. The only helpful folk anywhere were the staff at the Hop Shop. Although they didn't have exactly what I had in mind they made an exhaustive search online and eventually stepped into... More

I have been a customer of the Hop Shop for many years and am always delighted when I need to order from them. I live a significant distance away but their mail order service is excellent, with very prompt and efficient delivery. If I need to speak to them I always get a friendly and helpful response. I am looking forward... More

What can i say, well the Hop shop has always been and remains a fantastic shop for all your home brew items. Advice is always forthcoming and the products are numerous and of a good quality. Whether you are just getting into home brewing or you are an established and well practiced brewer, you will be able to get all... More

We are not sad obsessively but make enough home made cider, perry and beer to save a lot of money, use our own pears and apples and have reasonable quality light booze available for next to nothing and constantly to hand. The Hop Shop is both a bit off the beaten track but very accessible, close to the main roads... More

My ageing mother is a zealous wine maker using fruit from her own garden. We buy for her from here and they have always been efficient and friendly. Can't say we are into amateur booze making ourselves but evidently lots of people are and the shop has always been busy. It's one of those useful specialist shops you always fear... More

Plymouth rarely has it if you need something unusual but in this case having had a huge crop of apples from four trees we were determined to make our own cider and were resigned to travelling to Hereford or even London to buy Pukka kit. We wanted something to chop and mash the fruit, a reasonably classic cider press and... More
